It's glorious! You are looking at a Mac computer that will now live in the tech booth. What you see on the screen is the big 'Go' button of Qlab!! Qlab is the industry standard cue-based multimedia playback software used in theatre and live entertainment. It allows users to design and control sound, video, lighting and show control cues (like projections). Next, we are working on Vectorworks for lighting design, also an industry standard. All of this for $0 thanks to the work and ingenuity of David Jay II Segroves and the free versions for educators of these programs! David is working next to connect all the equipment so any show can be run by one computer (running multiple cues at once!).

The elementary musical team will be the FIRST to use this program for "Finding Nemo, Jr." THIS weekend! Come on out to Laker Auditorium and see the show. It's wonderful!

Any student from any school can audition. Audition videos are also accepted.

A special shout-out post for Laker senior, Audrey McNabb: Audrey analyzed the script, created a costume plot, took measurements to get things just right, researched and scoured antique shops and thrift stores far and wide, contacted online vendors and theatre groups, had multiple conversations with actors and the director to make sure nobody was left out and collected over 100 authentic 80s costume pieces, shoes and accessories for our spring musical! She took the time to tailor some of the dresses during tech week so actresses would be more comfortable on stage. Audrey's passion and talents in history, dramaturgy, sewing/costume construction and procurement, along with her humor and genuinely gracious spirit, will serve her well in the professional world, we have no doubt. Thanks for sharing your talent and time to make this totally awesome 80s flashback possible, Audrey! Your future looks very bright!

We took a little detour from tech week today and held a special audition for the spring musical. Seventh grade students will be at camp the week of auditions, so they came in during Homeroom today to dance and sing their hearts out. Twelve students from one class are interested in being involved in "Footloose"! We accomplished a lot in 40 minutes today. They were enthusiastic learners and a ton of fun!

The spring musical is open to grades 6-12. A link to audition dates and materials can be found in the comments.

Having some fun with the elementary musical reveal...

For the past two days, elementary students have received some clues about what this year's elementary musical will be. Here are the clues:
*It takes place in a school.
*The show has an annoying yet loveable sidekick.
*My goodness…with those two clues, your head must be swimming with possibilities!
The big reveal will take place Wednesday! Stay tuned for information on auditions, which will be in February.
