👻🏚️ Did you know there’s an abandoned resort community tucked away inside the Great Smoky Mountains?

Welcome to Elkmont — one of the Smokies’ most fascinating historic areas!

Once home to a bustling logging community and later a popular vacation destination, Elkmont still has several preserved historic buildings standing among the trees today. 🌲 Some structures have been restored, while others were lost over the years, leaving behind a place filled with incredible Smoky Mountain history.

📸 Walk among the old cabins
🏚️ See remnants of the former resort community
🌲 Explore one of the most unique areas of the national park
👻 And yes… it definitely has that “ghost town” atmosphere!

Just remember: these buildings are protected pieces of history, so enjoy them responsibly and leave everything exactly as you found it.

🚨 SKYLAND RANCH UPDATE: WHAT’S NEXT? 🏔️

One of the biggest questions surrounding SkyLand Ranch right now is: What happens next after the devastating fire?

While specific timelines and future plans aren’t ready to be announced just yet, SkyLand Ranch says a lot is happening behind the scenes.

Right now, the team is working on two major things at the same time:

🔥 Rebuilding the mountaintop — Plans are actively being developed for the areas and attractions lost in the fire.

🚧 Moving forward with future development — Projects that were already being planned before the fire are continuing to move ahead.

In the meantime, SkyLand Ranch has remained active with several attractions, including Wild Stallion Mountain Coaster, the Safari Hayride and the Dozer Encounter.

The team says the support they’ve received throughout the spring and summer has meant a tremendous amount, especially while the mountaintop portion of the property remains closed.

And it sounds like there could be some pretty exciting things ahead. 👀

SkyLand Ranch says they believe people will be “extremely excited” when they’re finally able to reveal what’s coming next.

🚨 NO BONNAROO IN 2027! 🎶

Bonnaroo is officially taking a year off.

Following back-to-back years of storms and another round of heavy rain during the 2026 festival, organizers say The Farm in Manchester needs time to rest, recover and heal before welcoming tens of thousands of festivalgoers again.

That comes despite major improvements made ahead of this year’s festival, including better drainage, 4.5 miles of new roadways and 135 acres of new grass.

Organizers say the decision wasn’t easy, but they’ve officially confirmed that Bonnaroo will NOT take place in 2027.

For music fans, that’s a huge hole in next year’s festival calendar. Bonnaroo is also a major economic driver for Manchester and the surrounding area, bringing visitors who spend money at hotels, restaurants, gas stations and local businesses.

Of course, not everyone will be disappointed. For some locals, a year without the crowds, traffic and everything else that comes with Bonnaroo might be a welcome break. 😅
