There’s no point in police wearing cameras if they’re not switched on – so it’s a good thing that NSW Police will require officers to turn on video when exercising their powers, starting this week. We have been calling for mandatory use of body-worn cameras for several years.

The change has been introduced following an ABC News investigation into police brutality, including horrifying abuse of Aboriginal people.

While we welcome the change, we want more:
🏛️The requirement to use body-worn cameras must be written into law, not just police procedures.
🔎NSW needs stronger independent police oversight and accountability.

If you missed the explosive ABC documentary, catch up here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-06-01/brutal-force-four-corners/106746408

Today, we gather for Monique.

The Disappeared team is in Hervey Bay, standing with Monique Clubb’s family and community for her vigil.

Monique was a proud Aboriginal woman. She disappeared, and years on, her family still has no answers. They are still waiting.

There is a petition calling on the Queensland Minister for Police to offer a one million dollar reward for information that brings Monique home. A reward that big gives someone a reason to finally come forward. Information can be given anonymously.

We ask one thing of you today. Sign the petition. Share it. Help bring Monique home.

The link is in our bio.

Someone knows something.

National Missing Persons Week is here, and there is a place for everyone in it.

If you can be there in person, come. Monique Clubb’s vigil in Harvey Bay on Wednesday. Our panel at QUT as part of the Black Knowing Series on Thursday. Black Friday feeds with our deadly friends at ICRR to close the week on Friday, a feed, a yarn and a fire with families and community.

If you’re supporting from home, every small yarn counts. Share our posts. Start a conversation with people around you. Follow, comment, stay informed.

Swipe through for all the ways you can take part. Event detail details and RSVP links are in our bio.

This is how we make sure no one disappears twice.

Here’s what they can tell you.

The national count breaks those 2,827 down by s*x. By age, in four brackets. It tells you 53% are female, 56% of age 13 to 17.

It does not tell you how many are First Nations. Not one figure identifies our mob.

So the number that would tell our story doesn’t exist. A country that isn’t counting isn’t looking.

This week, pay attention. Next week, we count.

They can tell you this one too.

As at 31 December 2025, 2827 people long-term missing in this country. Gone more than three months. For many families, years.

These are the ones the search wound down on. The ones the news move past. Their families are still waiting.

We don’t move past them. Pay attention with us.

They can tell you the number.

In 2025, police across this country received 49,084 missing persons reports. 48,702 people were located.

The count is kept. Collated every year with state and territory police. Behind every report is a person, and a family waiting on them.

Next week, we’re asking you to pay attention.
