Saturday night, David Duane and I hiked to photo the moon Tempe/Papago near the golf course to photo the moon p*eking over the mountain (maybe Tempe Butte??). No go. All clouds. Tonight, by the time I got around to going outside, the moon was too high. Sigh. First photo is rippled water at sunset. Nothing exciting. Sorry. I tossed in a moon photo from last Supermoon.

Ancient Egyptian Artistry: A 3,000-Year-Old Painter’s Palette with Vibrant Original Colors😮😮

Over 3000 years old and carved from a single piece of ivory, this palette is marked “beloved of Re,” a royal reference to the sun god dear to both Amenhotep III and Akhenaton, his son and successor, whose worship of Re resembled monotheism.

The colors themselves held deep symbolic meaning for the Egyptians, and the artist would have made very deliberate—regulated, even—choices as to which pigment to load onto their palm fiber brush when decorating tombs, temples, public buildings, and pottery.... See more in the comments.👇👇

Today is the birthday of the famous Austrian artist Gustav Klimt🎉🎨 Klimt's love for cats is legendary. 😻 One of the most beautiful portraits of Klimt shows the painter with a cat in his arms. A large number of cats were left to roam freely around the rooms of both his studios. Klimt was well aware that the cats caused chaos with his many sketches, and sometimes damaged them. This did not bother him in the slightest. 🐾 🖼
Arthur Roessler, an influential art writer and critic, gives a striking account of the cats' feral activity in Klimt's studio. He also talks about Klimt's relaxed response to this behavior: "Once, as I sat with Klimt and rummaged around in a heap of papers, surrounded by eight or ten meowing, purring cats, play fighting with each other, so much so that the rustling study sheets just went flying, I asked him, puzzled, why he tolerated such antics spoiling hundreds of the most beautiful drawings. With a smile, Klimt replied: 'No, my friend, even if they crumple and tear one or the other pieces of paper, it doesn't matter; they only p*e on the others, and, you know, it makes the best fixing agent!'"😹

Here’s the update!

I’ve had so much fun this week sharing recommendations and suggestions with everyone during my Mother’s Day Sale.
