Rosh hashanah is finally here!
But- a strange name for the New Year

The literal meaning, according to Jews
“The Head of the Year”? I’m kinda confused.

Why is it “The head”?...because it’s the top?
The first to come out when the baby goes pop?

The “head of the class”, that means Number one
So maybe this year will be the most fun!

It will be the best- The Rosh of the Year
This Year has a head, and it’s chanting a cheer:

On Donnor, On Blitzen, On Garbo, On Greta,
On Colby, On Pepper, On Jack and on Feta

5787 is when we reach the top
Send a horse to the moon: “Apollo clip-clop!”

Or ski across France, then to the North Pole
Train monkeys to dance-- now that’s a SMART goal!

Adopt an alpaca, then teach it ivrit!
Whatever you do, may your Year be sweet!

For real, a new year means a fresh start
Open your mind, your eyes and your heart

Last year is over, bring on the new
What you can accomplish, it’s all up to you

So this year think twice- ‘bout treating others
Be patient and nice, to sisters and brothers

And even to people you might not adore
Show them respect, don’t hate or ignore

If you get stressed, breathe and keep going
Try your very best, This year is for growing

A “hello” or kind word goes a long way
Let’s cheer for each other, Hip Hip Hooray!

The heatwave has passed
(Go run and cycle)
So now, at last
Let’s cheer for Michael!!

L’chayim today
For Michael’s birth
Say hip hip Coale Grey
With merriment and mirth!

MCG, heart warming
Thoughtful and thorough
Soon- he’s performing
The fringe, Edinburgh!

So get a massage
(Swedish? Shiatsu?)
Gather an entourage
Go see some Batsu

HAPPY B-DAY, MICHAEL!
