There’s a whole different kind of magic after the sun goes down🌌

Experience “Moon Bathing” based off the ancient ritual rooted in the soothing, restorative power of moonlight, inviting us to slow down and bask in the glow of the night sky. Part of the “Night Sky” collection by Emma Allen, this Small Musings piece explores the mysteries of darkness and reminds us that nighttime holds its own quiet beauty.

Leaving a little moonlight on your feed in case it’s just what your Saturday night needs🌙

Take a second look—what do you see👀

Carol Frank’s “What Do You See?” is a colorful study in optical illusion, with rows of dimensional cubes seemingly shifting and changing depending on how the viewers’ eye reads the pattern. Her original wall quilt features a block design by Mr. Domestic, with the woven 2” strip blocks inspired by a Mr. Domestic video. Surface quilting adds another layer of texture, with the quilting interrupted around the edges of the blocks.

But the real fun is in the way your eyes interpret the design: are you seeing one arrangement, or can you suddenly see it another way? Let us know in the comments below⬇️

The time has come to give the dresden a fresh spin💁🏽‍♀️

Some quilters find their creative path early like instructor Candyce Grisham who has been following hers since she first learned to sew at age nine. A self-taught quilter inspired by nature and bright, patterned fabrics, Candyce has spent more than 30 years creating and teaching, blending traditional quilting with a modern perspective. Her journey includes discovering an ancestor’s quilt at the Smithsonian, authoring Dresden Quilt Blocks Reimagined, and publishing numerous Dresden-focused patterns!

Lucky for us, Candyce will bring her love of the Dresden to two workshops at QuiltFest Virtual Schoolhouse #15, beginning with “Dresden Springtime” on Wednesday, October 14th. Students will explore modern Dresden “plates” through different edge finishes, piecing techniques, color and layout choices, and playful garden-inspired designs that can bloom in any season. Her second workshop, “Modern Dresden”, will take place on Saturday, October 17th, offering a contemporary approach to the classic block with multiple-sized plates, a choice of fabrics, and simple backgrounds made from large squares and rectangles for a wall hanging or full-sized quilt.

For a closer look at both of Candyce’s dresden workshops, watch her video and visit the QuiltFest website to register today👆🏼

One glad mornin’ indeed🌅

A few weeks ago at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza, Robyn Gragg had an especially good morning when her innovative quilt “One Glad Mornin’” received the ribbon for Best Sewing Machine Workmanship. And the celebration continued when it was also selected as the 2026 Viewer’s Choice Award winner!

Inspired by an old bluegrass song that goes “one glad mornin’ when this life is over, I’ll fly away,” Robyn’s quilt captures that sentiment with her birds winging their way to heaven. The combination of intricate machine piecing, appliqué and longarm quilting make for a beautiful masterpiece that caught the hearts of our attendees.

Looking back at those September mornings at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, it’s easy to see why this quilt stayed with us. Those birds may be headed somewhere beyond, but for that weekend at PNQE, they gave us something beautiful to look at right here🧡
