We had a fantastic time last Thursday at Broome County Arts Council’s () VIP night at BU Art Museum (), viewing the current exhibition, 'Ed Wilson: The Sculptor as Afro-humanist.' Our guide, Tom McDonough, Professor of Art History and the curator, provided amazing insights into Ed Wilson’s artistic career in various roles—artist, advocate, and academic.

Thank you, , for this amazing partnership and fun night!

First Friday Art Walk is always one of the highlights to start the month! What makes this month extra special is that our very own and have their work displayed at the Rude and Bold show at Atomic Tom’s. We also opened our very first artist-in-residence exhibition of the year 2023/2024 at BCAC.

We had a great time at the Farmer’s Market, a new venue on Sunday!

Thank you Lauren Del Valle from WBNG 12 News Around the Tiers (). If you have your calendar open this upcoming Saturday morning, come to Broome County Arts Council’s first Book and Brunch event at the SUNY Broome Culinary & Event Center (). Enjoy a catered brunch by Caffe del CORSO (.caffedelcorso) while joining our Gallery Manager Connie Kallechey Barnes’s talk with author Jean Hanff Korelitz.

Jean Hanff Korelitz () is a New York Times best-selling author, who wrote The Latecomer, The Plot and You Should Have Known (adapted into HBO series The Undoing). I finished The Plot and currently reading The Latecomer, which is a story about family, art and Cornell. We are really excited about this event!

Museums, or an art exhibition, has always been a sanctuary for me where I could feel intact with my alone time yet so connected with other minds and energies.

This was my first time at the Rockwell Museum () and first encounter with Martine Gutierrez (.tv). Gutierrez’s work stopped me from wandering immediately. Her work reminds me of David LaChapelle’s and Cindy Sherman’s works but talks about stories I’m not often exposed to. While it’s not unusual using him/herself as the subject and object in his/her work, it is not always easy to go beyond the symbols and deliver the thoughts behind. And I thought Gutierrez did well on that.
