We seek to be a place where anyone - LGBTQ+ and allies - can enjoy playing music together.

The Philadelphia Freedom Band (PFB) is a non-profit organization comprised of a wide variety of talented musicians, ranging from amateur to professional. We come together to perform throughout the greater Philadelphia area and provide visible, active support to the LGBTQ+ community. We welcome anyone who is committed to our shared goal of musical excellence and our commitment to social justice. Members participate through our ensembles, including concert band, marching band, and jazz ensemble.

Our midyear fundraiser is almost over, but there's still time to donate and share to help Philly's LGBTQIA+ community band continue our work all year long!

👉 Give today at qrco.de/PFBmidyear26

Every dollar and signal boost helps us keep doing what we do best – creating an incredible family of LGBTQIA+ and ally musicians and sharing our music, pride, and joy with our community across Philly and beyond! This year we have had a truly packed schedule of performances and events, including hosting the annual Pride Bands Alliance Conference back in May, and have been working hard to expand our ensembles, build partnerships, and reach new audiences 🎷🥁🎺

It now costs around $60,000 each year to run PFB’s concert, jazz, and marching ensembles. That’s over $1,100 per week, which goes towards: paying stipends for our amazing staff; purchasing and maintaining equipment, uniforms, and instruments; renting rehearsal, storage, and performance spaces; and supporting our Angel Fund to allow anyone to participate regardless of financial means. As we continue to grow and expand our programming, our expenses are only expected to increase from here, so we appreciate all the help we can get to keep up with these growing costs.

Thank you for your support 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷🤍🩵

We've been so excited to see how much our new Color Guard has grown in the past few years! Kate started playing trumpet in Concert Band, then went on to revitalize the Color Guard in 2019. Please consider supporting our midyear fundraiser to help us continue to expand Color Guard and welcome more amazing performers to the PFB family through the purchase of additional performance flags and poles, more sparkly ✨ uniforms, and practice flags for members to rehearse with 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
