My love for collage began when my parents received a note of Congratulations for their new home. The note was actually a small collection of overlapping words, multicolored shapes and images, placed at unexpected angles and positions. Captivated by the unorthodox illustration of the expression of ideas created with an amalgam of objects, words, patterns and colors. I began collecting wrapping pape
r, tissue boxes, candy wrappers, trash, magazines, and greeting cards, to create visuals of beauty, of fun, of commentary, and love. My inspiration comes from my deep beliefs in equity, social justice, and the strength of those who have had to fight daily to receive common decency, lawfulness, respect, and morality. My strength comes from my cherished daughters, my family, my students, the dearest of friends, travel, and nature. I hope that my fascination and love of color and form to create art, will inspire and move my audiences.
