Tonight at Boston’s Jordan Hall, QAM soprano Toni Marie Palmertree sings Marietta in George Whitefield Chadwick’s THE PADRONE with Odyssey Opera.

It caps a remarkable stretch for Toni, who made her principal role debut at The Metropolitan Opera as Cio-Cio-San this past spring and sang Amelia in SIMON BOCCANEGRA at San Francisco Opera last month.

Gil Rose conducts the performance of the work, and the evening is being recorded for future release with the Boston Modern Opera Project. Chadwick’s portrait of immigrant life in turn-of-the-century Boston went unperformed until 1995, when the Waterbury Symphony gave the work its first performance.

Tomorrow evening, Héctor Armienta's ZORRO opens at Utah Opera in a new production directed by QAM stage director David Radamés Toro, with QAM mezzo-soprano Stephanie Sánchez as Carlota.

The two brought the work to the stage together at Arizona Opera last season, where Toro directed the company premiere and Sánchez sang the same role.

Sung in English and Spanish with supertitles in both languages, Armienta's opera follows Diego de la Vega as he takes up the mask in Spanish California. Alex Amsel conducts the Utah Symphony and Utah Opera Chorus, with César Delgado in the title role and Zulimar López-Hernández as Ana Maria Soza.

Performances are October 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre.

Tomorrow evening, Puccini's TOSCA opens at Nashville Opera in a production staged by QAM director John Hoomes, who also serves as the company's CEO and Artistic Director.

Making their house debuts are tenor Ben Gulley as Cavaradossi and baritone SeungHyeon Baek as Scarpia. Both reprise their roles later this season, Gulley with Pensacola Opera and Baek with the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera.

Dean Williamson conducts, with Brittany Olivia Logan in the title role. Performances are Thursday, October 8 and Saturday, October 10 at 7:30 PM at TPAC's Jackson Hall, sung in Italian with English supertitles.

This Wednesday, September 30, QAM tenor Dane Suarez sings Manrico in Verdi's IL TROVATORE with Opera Română Craiova, making his company debut, as part of the 19th Elena Teodorini International Festival.

Italian director Chris Catena's staging brings Verdi's drama of forbidden love to Craiova's Cercul Militar, with Francesco di Mauro conducting the Orchestra and Chorus of Opera Română Craiova. The cast also features Ksenia Valentina as Leonora, Licia Toscano as Azucena, and Armando Piña as the Count di Luna.

This year's festival, running through November 19, marks a century since the passing of Elena Teodorini, one of the most important figures in Romanian opera.

Following Craiova, Dane continues with Manrico and Cavaradossi in TOSCA across Romania and Germany this October.

Tomorrow evening, Boston Lyric Opera opens Rossini's WILLIAM TELL (GUILLAUME TELL), featuring QAM mezzo-soprano Nina Yoshida Nelsen in her role debut as Hedwige, where she also serves as BLO's Artistic Director.

Rossini's final opera returns to Boston in its first fully staged production in over 150 years. Sung in French with English surtitles, the epic work follows the legendary archer as he leads his people against a tyrannical ruler.

Vita Tzykun and David Adam Moore co-direct, and David Angus conducts a cast that includes George Gagnidze as William Tell and Anya Matanovič as Mathilde. Performances are September 25 and 27 and October 2 and 4 at the Emerson Colonial Theatre.

This week, QAM bass-baritone Philip Skinner takes the War Memorial Opera House stage as Lord Gordon in Thea Musgrave's MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS at San Francisco Opera. Performances continue September 24, 26, and 29 and October 2 and 4.

A former Adler Fellow, Skinner made his company debut on opening night of the 1985 season and has since given more than 400 performances with San Francisco Opera. In 2022, he was awarded the prestigious San Francisco Opera Medal.

Musgrave's opera follows Mary's turbulent reign in Scotland as she struggles to hold power against the three men who seek to take it from her. This co-production with English National Opera marks the work's San Francisco Opera mainstage premiere, directed and designed by Stewart Laing and conducted by Clelia Cafiero, with Heidi Stober in the title role.

Later this season, Skinner performs Antonio in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with San Francisco Opera and Leslie Groves in DOCTOR ATOMIC with Opera San Jose.

This past weekend, QAM baritone Levi A Hernandez took the stage as Giorgio Germont in LA TRAVIATA at Opera Roanoke, with two performances at the Jefferson Center on September 19 and 20.

Verdi's beloved tragedy was directed by Stefanos Koroneos and conducted by Mathias Elmer, with Andrea Baker as Violetta and Eric Botto as Alfredo.

Levi's season continues with Bartolo in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA with El Paso Opera, Ein Musiklehrer in ARIADNE AUF NAXOS with Opera Omaha, and the Sacristan in TOSCA with Hawaii Opera Theatre.

QAM is proud to announce the addition of American soprano Amanda Sheriff to its roster of artists for worldwide management.

Ms. Sheriff has been celebrated for her luminous voice, compelling stage presence, and versatility across genres spanning the classic operatic repertoire, contemporary classical works, and musical theater.

Planned engagements for the 2026-2027 season include reprising the role of Beatrice in Three Decembers with Opera Grand Rapids, appearing as soprano soloist in Mozart's Requiem with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, making a Carnegie Hall debut as soprano soloist in Schubert's Mass in G Major, and a Tulsa Opera debut as Despina in Così fan tutte.

2025–26 season highlights included Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro with The Atlanta Opera, a musical theater debut as Sarah in Ragtime with Opera Montana, and a return to Opera Baltimore as Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande. QAM is proud to announce the addition of Bass-Baritone Jason Zacher to its roster of artists for general management.

Mr. Zacher has garnered acclaim as a versatile emerging talent in opera, concert, and musical theatre. Praised for his “resonant baritone voice, acting skills to burn, and most important, an alluring persona that dominated the stage every moment he was on,” (Opera News) Zacher continues to captivate audiences with his commanding stage presence and vocal versatility.

This season, Zacher makes his house debut at The Metropolitan Opera as First Priest in the company’s holiday presentation of The Magic Flute and covers The Herald in its production of Otello. He also reprises the roles of Olin Blitch in Susannah with Shreveport Opera and Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance with Amarillo Opera, and returns to Merkin Hall as Benny in Kurt Weill’s Happy End (a co-production between The Glimmerglass Festival and Opera Saratoga).

A former Studio Artist at The Atlanta Opera, the artist recently completed a two-year tenure with the company, appearing in productions of Frankenstein, Rigoletto, La bohème, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Magic Flute, and Macbeth. He is also an alumnus of other prestigious training programs including The Glimmerglass Festival, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Kentucky Opera, among others.

On the concert stage, Zacher has performed several times at Carnegie Hall, most recently essaying the role of The Hermit in the French adaptation of Der Freischütz with the American Symphony Orchestra. Additional Carnegie Hall appearances have included Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass with MidAmerica Productions and Handel’s Messiah with Masterwork Chorus. The artist has also collaborated in concert with award-winning artists Natalie Merchant and Anthony Roth Costanzo at The Glimmerglass Festival.

The American soprano has been praised for her “powerhouse soprano and expressive presence” (The Wall Street Journal) and “rich voice and interpretive talent” (Bachtrack). The recipient of the prestigious 2021 Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshana Foundation, Ms. Townsend’s 2026-2027 season kicks off with a return to Opera Philadelphia, where she debuts the title role in Aida in a new production from director Kaneza Schaal and visual artist Christopher Myers. The event marks the return of Verdi’s masterpiece to the Academy of Music in over two decades. 2025-2026 season highlights included performances of Crash Out Queens: A Tiffany Townsend Recital in collaboration with Long Beach Opera, A Night for Romance with Folsom Lake Symphony, and a debut with Chattanooga Symphony & Opera as the soprano soloist in Verdi's Requiem.

A former LA Opera Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist, Townsend's roles with the company include Ines/Leonora cover (Il Trovatore), Desdemona cover (Otello), Julie cover (Omar), and a celebrated debut as Léontine in The Anonymous Lover. In past seasons, she has performed with companies including Opera Philadelphia, Des Moines Metro Opera, Long Beach Opera, and Opera Grand Rapids, among others. On the concert stage, the artist has enjoyed frequent performances of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Verdi's Requiem, Walker's Lilacs, Faure's Réquiem, Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915, and Strauss' Four Last Songs with organizations including Wolf Trap Opera, Artosphere Festival, Bakersfield Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, NOI+, and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. She is an avid recitalist and continues to devise exciting and collaborative programs, most recently in partnership with Long Beach Opera.

A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Townsend holds a Professional Studies Certificate in Opera from Curtis Institute of Music, a Master of Music from The Juilliard School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Millsaps College.
