Release the Queen! Follow up on the latest extraction- after bringing the hive Home and waiting for ambient temperature to rise a bit, we set the queen free so she can set up home in her new apiary. Funny how hard she can be to see even when you know she's in a finite area.

I recently confessed to my friend that I edited out our bickering during an extraction. But it's an intense working space where we're often being stung and things might not be going how we wanted. Nonetheless, we call it our Quality Time. And we do manage to work together as a team and capture the hive completely most of the time.

Two new Butter Dishes- Acorn Woodpeckers and Water Fowl. They're big enough to be covered snack platters if you prefer. I've been enjoying all the decorative real estate. Dishwasher, Microwave and oven safe. Baked brie? Baked garlic? I'll have them at Kings Mountain Art Fair next weekend!

I hope you like woodpeckers, because I do! They dangle like heavy acrobats from my hummingbird feeders, leaving them swinging when they noisily take off. They raise their young communally, which is just so beautiful and bee like that I must give praise! I'll have these at Kings Mountain very soon Kings Mountain Art Fair

Chicken coop extraction! Reposting this because the first time the crucial queen capture got cropped off. Sonoma county is full of old chicken coops that mage the loveliest homes for bees. They're my favorite kind- easy access, no clean floors or drywall to protect, blackberry snacks behind us... and plenty of honey
