Amanda McCauley and Mother Killed in Sioux City Shooting; Husband Dies by Su***de 💔
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — A quiet Saturday morning near Grandview Park turned into a tragedy that has left a family shattered, two children without their mother, and an entire community heartbroken.
The deadly incident happened Saturday morning, September 26, 2026, at a home at 3110 Douglas Street, just a few blocks from Grandview Park. 🕯️
Police were called to the residence at approximately 8:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered three people with fatal gunshot wounds.
Authorities later identified them as Amanda Marissa McCauley, 42; Yolanda Guerra Koon, 76; and Andrew McCauley, 42, all Sioux City residents.
Three lives. Three family members. Gone in a moment that changed everything forever.
Sioux City police said their preliminary investigation determined that Andrew McCauley shot his wife, Amanda, and his mother-in-law, Yolanda Guerra Koon, before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound as officers arrived.
Police have not released a detailed motive for the shooting. The investigation remains active as detectives work to establish the circumstances leading up to the deaths.
A Devoted Mother and Her Mother, Remembered 🤍

Friends remember Amanda as a devoted, loving mother whose whole world was her children. They shared that she had sought a divorce before the shooting and had been dealing with difficult circumstances within the marriage. These statements have not been presented by police as an established motive for the killings, but they paint a picture of a woman trying so hard to find a way forward.
Yolanda Guerra Koon, 76, was more than Amanda’s mother — she was a grandmother, a matriarch, a source of unconditional love and strength. At 76 years young, she should have had so many more years of being cherished by her family.
The Crittenton Center has stepped in to assist the children following the deaths, wrapping them in love and support during this painful time. The organization is accepting financial support through its Venmo account, , to help with funeral expenses and the children's care. The organization said it does not plan to establish a GoFundMe campaign. 🙏
A Neighborhood Shaken
The triple shooting has left residents in the neighborhood shaken.
Neighbor Jeff Peterson, who lives across from the home, told KTIV that incidents of this nature are unusual in the Siouxland area and said the tragedy highlighted the importance of community and neighbor support — of holding each other a little closer in times like these.
SCPD Sgt. Tom Gill also said on the day of the shooting that the initial call reporting the incident came from inside the home.
The Sioux City Police Department continues to investigate the triple fatal shooting. Authorities have not indicated that anyone else is being sought in connection with the deaths.
Tonight, a home on Douglas Street is silent, but the love for Amanda and Yolanda echoes loudly in the hearts of all who knew them.
