This pet portrait I started in 2020 during my first drawing class, and it was originally a value study of my black cat, Ethan, done in ink. I’ve never really done a proper pet portrait, but I recently lost Ethan so it only felt right to revisit this piece ❤️‍🩹

He always loved hanging out on our apartment patio and basking in the sunlight. He constantly wanted me out there with him so I’d paint while he sunbathed. These memories are just a little more saturated and rich in retrospect 🌈
