This July, returns to Red Hawk Avalon for a weekend of training, ritual, and a transformative green burial experience. 🌿

"Death Tending is a calling with many layers. Whether you are drawn to ritual, advocacy, body care, or any combination of these, the skills and knowledge acquired in this realm can be enormously beneficial in serving your community and preparing for/coming to terms with your own mortality.

In the setting of a sacred forest, we will gather together with the elements to learn about the role of an End of Life Doula. This will include trainings on energy work, body tending, shrouding, death rights advocacy, grief processing, and cultural considerations. The weekend will include the sacred ceremony of the green burial experience in which we will collectively dig and dress a grave. It will be within this grave that each in attendance will have the opportunity to spend a few minutes wrapped in a shroud for a moment of deep reflection; ultimately gaining a new perspective on life and death.

Death work is an ancestral skill that has faded in recent decades. We are here to help bring those skills back into focus."

Their mission is to center ecological literature that is woven in mythic-poetic, animist, and other vital spiritual themes that are core to our ethos as individuals deeply committed to protecting our landscapes from ecological devastation. In addition to their publishing efforts, Severed Branches Press is committed to supporting & sponsoring regional animist gatherings, facilitating cross-cultural learning opportunities centered around relationships to place, and empowering readers toward spiritual revitalization.

We welcome back our friends and community to Red Hawk Avalon for this year's solstice celebration, June 19th-21st. 🌊🌲 It is wonderful to see so many beloved artists returning (and new ones appearing) for the 2026 installation: Blood of the Earth.

In a time filled with so much darkness, we look toward the returning light and healing alongside one another and the Earth. This land, from its flora and fauna to its old growth and the rock creek that flows through it, has always been sacred, long before we held it as a sanctuary. Now, our focus turns to protecting and reviving Red Hawk Avalon and pursuing new beginnings. While we are no longer directly involved in organizing Cascadian Midsummer beyond preparing the grounds and altars, hosting, and welcoming the community, we wish for the continued joy and success of all who attend and that you are able to take something special with you.

THANK YOU, RHA COMMUNITY! 🌲🌲🌲

In just a few days, we have surpassed our starting goal and are overwhelmed with gratitude. Our family has been struggling with this for the last year, and in many ways, we have been grieving since spring. It is hard asking for aid when we know everyone else is struggling just to get by, so having this response has been deeply meaningful to us. Gathering together as a community is how we will not only survive these dark times but also thrive, and it wouldn't be possible without all of you. We are in the process of responding to the DNR with our recent findings and will update you as more progress is made and further surveys are conducted.

The GoFundMe goal has been raised, and anything more will help ensure we are able to cover our legal expenses, land debts, repairs, and the revival of Red Hawk Avalon. 🌲
