Veritas Productions specializes in taking any production from conception to realization. any facet of a fully staged production of any size. Veritas Productions LLC was established in 2021 by Nancy Evans Begley, Producing Artistic Director, who oversees all operations and artistic vision for the company, as well as all contracts. The company name was a collaborative infusion of the need for truth and transparency in the creative and performing arts, hence Veritas, the Latin word for truth: “Truth is mighty and will prevail.” For all of you Potterheads out there, it’s also why Veritaserum has the name it does - the truth potion! VP Theatre Arts was founded by Nancy Evans Begley in March 2025 as a nonprofit subsidiary of Veritas Productions. VP Theatre Arts is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, enriching communities throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. 🎸⚡ FIRST DAY ON THE SET! ⚡🎸

Today was a milestone moment for our cast of All Shook Up as they stepped onto the fully built set for the very first time! After weeks of music rehearsals, choreography, character work, and imagination, this incredible company finally got to see the world they’ve been creating come to life right before their eyes.

There is something truly magical about that first rehearsal on stage. The scenery is standing, the spaces become real, and suddenly the show starts feeling less like a rehearsal process and more like a production. Watching this talented cast explore the set, find their footing, and begin bringing this vibrant story to life was a reminder of why we do what we do.

In just two weeks, the music of Elvis Presley, hilarious comedy, dazzling choreography, and a heartfelt story about community, acceptance, and transformation will take over the PACE Center stage.

⚡🎸 SET BUILD UPDATE: ALL SHOOK UP 🎸⚡

Things are getting real, friends!

Over the last several weeks, our incredible scenic team has been transforming lumber, paint, platforms, and imagination into the vibrant world of All Shook Up. From diner counters and storefronts to stained glass windows, jukeboxes, doors, and the iconic levels that will bring our story to life, the set is coming together beautifully.

And we’re about to hit a major milestone:

🚚 Load-in begins Monday!
🎭 The cast and crew move onto the PACE stage for spacing and all future rehearsals beginning Thursday, June 11!

It’s amazing to reflect on the journey that brought us here. More than a year ago, this production existed only as a proposal. Since then, we’ve celebrated winning the bid, assembled an outstanding creative team, interviewed and contracted designers, held auditions, cast an incredible company of artists, and spent weeks in rehearsal bringing this story to life.

Now, we’re only weeks away from seeing it all realized under the lights.

Watching hundreds of hours of planning, artistry, collaboration, and hard work become a fully realized production is one of the greatest joys of theatre-making—and we can’t wait to share it with you.

CALL TYPE: Non-Union
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil's former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean,” and the perennial title song, White Christmas is an uplifting, wholesome musical that will delight audiences of all ages.
SEEKING:

We are casting a tight ensemble of 14-16 performers, 18 years or older (except for Susan Waverly). We celebrate our youth performers, but we will not cast anyone under 18 in this production, except Susan. Ensemble tracks will understudy principals and play multiple roles. We are seeking a diverse cast, including age, of triple-threat performers – each must be able to move well (General and Martha do not require technical dance) – and we are specifically looking for advanced dancers & singers for our ensemble. Our ensemble cast should be comfortable with tap, jazz, partnering, and some lifts.

Veritas Productions & Theatre Arts is bringing this classic story into the modern era. Our goal is to invite audiences into White Christmas. Our more intimate, partial three-quarter thrust stage will be fully utilized, action will take place in the house and on the proscenium, entrances and exits will use the wings, voms, stage, and house, and our big finale will further immerse the audience into the joy of the season and heart of the story. Our intent is to raise the stakes relevant to modern-day humanity while honoring the vintage time capsule in costuming, movement, staging, etc.

WHAT TO PREPARE:

We are requesting preliminary video submissions and will inform all candidates if we’d like to see them for callbacks and the dance call.

ALL VIDEO SUBMISSIONS DUE BY 10 pm on Friday, June 19th.

Please prepare a one-minute vocal selection in the style of the show, and submit your YouTube or Vimeo link in the form (these are the only two acceptable file types, as others often do not open), along with your headshot and resume. Email submissions will not be accepted.

All interested candidates must be available in person for our dance call and callbacks on Monday, June 29th.

The dance call will be immediately after the vocal audition, and we will notify candidates in the room if they are asked to stay for this. Please come prepared with dance shoes: character and tap. TAP DANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PRODUCTION.

SUBMISSION FORM: https://forms.gle/MFV111Kfz9PtNpsX9

CONTENT & LICENSING: Veritas Productions is contracted to perform White Christmas as written. No edits to the script or score will be made to accommodate actor preferences, as this would violate our licensing agreement.

OUR PROCESS:

You MUST be available to attend the dance call & callback in person to be considered for casting.

Out-of-state candidates should be aware that Veritas Productions does not provide housing, per diem, or travel stipends. You must also be available in person for the dance call & callbacks, if invited, to be considered for casting. If you are an out-of-state candidate, please consider all of this before submitting.

We are committed to notifying candidates about casting within three days of the final callback. We notify all parties within that time frame by phone with a casting offer, and we email those we do not cast. If there is any delay or adjustment to our timeline, we will notify all candidates via email and set clear expectations.

COMPENSATION: Veritas Productions is a non-union, professional production company. We do not make any claims to pay a livable weekly wage. We compensate our talent at above-market, non-union rates for all productions. Please consider compensation information before submitting.

All actors are paid a $150 rehearsal stipend and $45/performance. We believe in pay equity for all performers across all tracks in our productions. Understudies will be compensated double show pay if they perform their assigned cover role at any performance. CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:

THE TIME
1950s post-WWII. New York and Vermont.

CAST OF CHARACTERS
Bob Wallace – (this role is cast and will be played by Keith Hershman. We will be hiring an understudy in our ensemble to cover) – A major singing star, Bob is the guiding force behind the song and dance team of Wallace and Davis. He wears his fame easily, but has some trouble with social and romantic interactions. Despite occasional gruffness, he is a deeply kind and principled man who is searching for true love. Excellent singer with a crooning style who moves very well. Baritone. Choreographed physical intimacy with Betty - covers must be comfortable with this and attend intimacy rehearsals.

Phil Davis – (this role is cast and will be played by Cory Klements. We will be hiring an understudy in our ensemble to cover) – The fun-loving song-and-dance partner of the team, Wallace and Davis. An irrepressible clown, operator, and incorrigible ladies’ man who is determined to see his friend happy, even if it requires scheming and outright deception. He has a boyish charm and s*x appeal. Strong ballroom, jazz, and tap dancing needed. Baritone-tenor. Choreographed physical intimacy with Judy - covers must be comfortable with this and attend intimacy rehearsals.

Betty Haynes – (this role is cast and will be played by Nancy Evans Begley. We will be hiring an understudy in our ensemble to cover) – Sensible, responsible half of the Haynes sisters act. Classic elegance. Destined to be a star, but hesitant to take the spotlight. Devoted to her sister. Hides a yearning for true love under a protective shell. Female singer of quiet beauty and charm with a rich chest mix and soprano extension. Must move well. Choreographed physical intimacy with Bob - covers must be comfortable with this and attend intimacy rehearsals.

Judy Haynes – (this role is cast and will be played by Dallas Slankard. We will be hiring an understudy in our ensemble to cover) – Younger, more ambitious, and slightly scheming, the other sister. Wholesome and adorable, s*xy and flirty. Strong jazz and tap dancer. Strong singer with a chest mix. Choreographed physical intimacy with Phil - covers must be comfortable with this and attend intimacy rehearsals.

General Henry Waverly – (this role is cast and will be played by John Ashton. We will be hiring an understudy in the ensemble to cover) – Retired Army general with a curmudgeonly military exterior, adjusting to retired life in post WW II America. Precise and orderly, struggling to run the Inn in Vermont. A man of integrity. Underneath a warm, compassionate man in need of family and love. With the exception of one line, it can be a non-singing role.

Martha Watson – (this role is cast and will be played by Deb Persoff. We will be hiring an understudy in the ensemble to cover) – Once a Broadway star, now the General’s housekeeper. The true force behind running the Inn. Very dry wit and frank with a wisecracking sense of humor. Big-hearted, but unsentimental. Irrepressible meddler, believing she acts in everyone’s best interest. Strong singer and mover, Broadway belter.

Susan Waverly – (young girl to play stage age 9 years old) – The General’s granddaughter. Lovable and outgoing. A bit precocious, but wise beyond her years. Gets bitten by the stage bug and is great at it. Excellent belt voice, must move very well.

Ralph Sheldrake/Mike – Ralph is a jokester, Army buddy of Bob and Phil’s, now a major television executive. Fast talking, loud, brash New York professional with a good head on his shoulders. Mike is Bob and Phil’s Stage Manager. Can be overly dramatic and often hysterical, but gets the job done. Works to attempt a sense of control and order for the company. May double in dance ensemble.

Rita and Rhoda – Bob and Phil’s two-star chorus showgirls. Brash, s*xy, and fun. Perhaps not the brightest. Will anchor our dance ensemble. Technical dance, including tap, required.

Ezekiel Foster – (mid 40’s to late 50’s) – Practical, the ultimate laid-back New Englander. A man of few words. Caretaker at the Inn. Takes life at a very, very leisurely pace. Also plays Mr. Snoring Man and a winter tourist.

Tessie – Character woman to play Bob and Phil’s secretary, also plays Head Seamstress and Mrs. Snoring Man, a winter tourist. Mezzo-soprano, belter.

Male and Female Ensemble of Dancers (3 male-presenting, 1 female-presenting) – to play assorted speaking roles as well as being a strong singing ensemble. Strong in Ballroom, Jazz, and Tap..

*Please note, ensemble offers may be contingent on the artist’s willingness to understudy a principal role. Please ensure you are able and willing to do this before indicating you will accept ensemble. Thank you!
