Get to know our people! Q&A with Matt Sheppard š¤
SOMETHING IāM PROUD OF:
I did a story calledĀ āMy Proudest Moment.āĀ It is about performing stand-up comedy in San Quentin. But Iām really proud of my daughter, Maākiya. Iāve been incarcerated her whole life and she just got her Masterās degree in social work. Iām so proud of her!Ā
SOMETHING UNIQUE ABOUT ME:
As a kid, I had a lisp and used to occasionally stutter. So, I am happy to be able to tell radio stories and do stand-up comedy. My āimpedimentsā are now the thing that people recognize and love about me, and I love that the people who know me know my voice.Ā
MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING PART OF UNCUFFED:āØI love it when people tell me their story and the real good storytellers allow me to share in their emotion. As a person who spent most of my life (to this point) in a prison, hearing stories allowed me to live vicariously through others.
MY HOPES FOR THE FUTURE:āØI want to continue to grow as a podcast producer, audio engineer, filmmaker, and entertainer. I believe that Uncuffed has helped me open doors that will lead to a bright future and now I hope to be able to open similar doors for future Uncuffed alumni.
AN UNCUFFED STORY I RECOMMEND:
I really love the storyĀ āHole in the HeartāĀ produced by Anthony Ivy. Itās a love story that reminds me of the people I grew up with in prison and prior to prison. Itās an amazing story that I can listen to over and over again.
