Love That Walks Before Me
He taught me about a Father's love, though I did not know He was teaching me.
Through gentle hands, patient words, and never demanding my love in return, He gave. And in giving, He revealed His heart.
He wrapped His arms around me and gently led me. By revealing His nature, my heart found understanding.
He demonstrated His love daily, always holding my heart, encouraging me and building me up. His language was always love and compassion.
Real love feels different. I learned I did not have to earn it.
My Father protected me with wisdom, understanding that wisdom is not forced upon a child, but shown through example.
Wisdom sometimes comes after falling down, and my Father was always there to help me up.
My Father taught me that truth is held in love, for without love, truth can fade into the shadows of judgment and hate.
My Father's correction was gentle as He guided me, for a still, small voice opened my heart to Him. In His wisdom, He knew I would hide from thundering.
He did not shout across the distance, but sat beside me, taking my hand.
My Father did not measure my growth by those around me. He knew my spirit and what I was capable of, calling me by name.
My Father understands grace. He walks in grace, leads in grace, and pours His grace over me.
It restores my soul.
This is the love of a Father.
May children walk in this love.
