Light

The first words spoken in the Bible were,
“Let there be light.”

From the very beginning, He gifted us light.
He never intended for us to remain in darkness.

Later, He revealed,
“I am the light of the world.”

I long to live within this light—
to let it guide my vision,
to let it warm my spirit,
to let it shine through my heart.

May I walk in His light,
reflect His love,
and become light as He is light.

Father, You spoke light into a world that had known only darkness; speak that same light into the hidden places of my soul. Let it chase away the shadows, and create a clean heart within me. Let light continually be my salvation. I ask that You help me not to dim Your light.
Help me remember that I must look to You if I am to reflect Your light, and to never hide it under a bushel.
Help me to always remember Your light is a gift given to me to share, never to pridefully claim as mine alone. You call light into being, You called me out of darkness and placed the beauty of Your light within me. May I walk humbly before You as a vessel of that light. Reflecting the light of love, grace, and hope that first came from You.

Many of us have gotten used to staying strong, pushing through, and carrying more than we should. But sometimes the strongest thing we can do is admit we’re tired and let God carry what we cannot. Surrender is not weakness—often, it is where peace begins. 🩷

Truth

Nothing is big or small to God.

When your cares are many, he is there to comfort you with his Word, through prayer and through fellowship with other believers. In fact, the Lord Jesus always prays for you. Hebrews reminds you, dear believer, that he constantly makes intercession for you.

Are your worries small? The Lord provides for the smallest sparrows, and clothes the lilies of the fields that no one may ever see. And yet, it matters a great deal to the Creator who carefully formed them and cares for them.

Are your troubles mighty? Are you filled with sorrow? The Lord your God empathizes with every feeling of sorrow or hurt or rejection you might feel. In fact, he who sacrificed his only Son for you, will never withhold anything good from you.

Your faithful, long-suffering Shepherd King has experienced every feeling of pain and rejection that you might face in this life, and he has promised to be with you in the fires and the floods of life, always caring for you, and never far.
