This was my take on Gatton Park on the Town Branch for this years exhibit hosted by LiveGreenLexington and The Living Arts & Science Center

This annual exhibit is always a highlight of my year. The Art by Nature program showcases the beauty of Fayette County landscapes and ways to improve and enhance the natural world. Artists are invited to create pieces inspired by the list of chosen sites provided each year - with open interpretation of what to create. This years theme was 'From Concrete to Creek,' and focused on best stormwater management practices. I chose Gatton Park for the Town Branch watershed as my subject to translate this years theme onto canvas. I look forward to seeing this exhibit come together, they always do a wonderful job and this show really is something to see.

I was going to wait to post this, but art has a way of aligning with life’s most poignant moments. I put the finishing touches on this LexArts Canvas of Silks bust honoring Stone Farm today for the Breeders' Cup —only to hear the news of Arthur Hancock III’s passing.

I am deeply humbled to have spent the last few weeks painting this piece for the farm he built into a cradle of champions. Arthur deeply appreciated creative expression as a lifelong musician and songwriter; his family's music has often uplifted me as an artist and guides my hand as I paint, and I wanted this piece to honor that shared spirit and create something beautiful from it.

Thank you, Arthur, for everything you gave to Paris, horse racing, and Bluegrass music. My deepest condolences to the Hancock family and everyone at Stone Farm today.

This will be interesting! I'll be painting a 36" jockey silks sculpture for LexArts along with 49 other talented artists to celebrate the Breeders' Cup World Championships. My chosen design submission pays tribute to Stone Farm in Paris. I'd been eager to bid for the next round of Horse Mania, so I'm honored to have been picked for this one 🙌

Throwback to one of my larger plein air pieces depicting the garden house at the Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate

I did this piece over multiple plein air sessions in rhe summer ofl 2024; it took first place at the annual Art by Nature exhibit in Lexington, and won some awards at Plein Air Salon. I have to admit it never felt fully completed (to me, at least) and I may revisit this one in the future.

Pretty close on this one. How do you feel about rustic barnwood frames?
