Gay Desert Guide writes, "Dezart Performs has entered a pivotal new chapter as Phase Two of the Dezart Playhouse transformation begins, advancing the adaptive reuse of the former First Church of Christ, Scientist into a fully equipped, modern performing arts center. Following the successful completion of Phase One during Season 18, the company now moves forward with major upgrades supported by a generous additional $200,000 gift from writer/producer and longtime supporter David Clark Lee, who has challenged the community to match his contribution.

The Palm Springs City Council voted unanimously to award the Dezart Playhouse the highest designation as a Class 1 Historical Landmark. Mayor Pro Tem David Ready said, "it’s an amazing addition both to our city, and in terms of what it will bring to the culture and what it will bring to the community. Palm Springs is better for what you’ve done with this building."

The First Church of Christ Scientist, now home to Dezart Performs, earns the city's highest historic designation, protecting a rare example of Desert Modernism designed by one of Palm Springs' most celebrated architects.

Kevin Mann of NBC Palm Springs writes about Dezart Performs' production of LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION!: "Okay, I have to tell you about this show because… wow. 'Love, Valor, Compassion' at Dezart Performs is one of those productions that just stays with you. Like, you don’t just watch it—you feel it the whole way through. The direction and staging are super minimal, but somehow it all works. You completely believe you’re in all these different places with barely any set. It’s one of those 'less is more' situations done really, really well. Bottom line? It’s powerful, it’s uncomfortable at times, it’s beautiful—and yeah, I’d absolutely tell you to go see it if you can."

“Love, Valor, Compassion” at DezArt Performs is raw, emotional, funny, uncomfortable—and completely unforgettable.

Jason Mannino of Stage and Screen writes about Dezart Performs' LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION!: "A moving revival that transforms urgency into reflection without losing its emotional core. Director Philip Wm. McKinley guides this revival with a beautiful, fluid rhythm that makes the nearly three-hour runtime feel like a summer you’ve actually lived through rather than just watched. He gets incredible work out of this ensemble."

Dezart Performs’ revival of Love! Valour! Compassion! is a moving, nostalgic tribute to friendship, love, and the AIDS era.

Stephen Radosh of Gay Desert Guide writes about Dezart Performs' LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION! "Every member of the cast gives a performance that is honest and rings true. Moments of confession are not polished; they tremble. Moments of conflict are not explosive; they bruise. This is a truly sensational ensemble company."

"Philip Wm. McKinley’s superb direction wisely resists the temptation to modernize the play into something it isn’t. Instead, the production honors its 1990s setting while emphasizing its timeless emotional stakes. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the audience to feel the weight of 3 weekends that changes everyone present."

The show runs from April 9 through the 19th. Tickets at dezartperforms.org or call 760-322-0179.
