Reggae Roadblocks

Reggae Roadblocks Reggae Roadblocks is a music business development perspective focused on Reggae. Are REGGAE ROADBLOCKS imposed by the Babylon system, or are they self imposed?

Despite Bob Marley’s recognition globally as one of the most influential forces in popular music history, many argue that Jamaican Reggae music continues to struggle for a commensurate place within the mainstream music business space. REGGAE ROADBLOCKS takes a look at some of the cultural, geopolitical, and business related issues that impact the making, promotion, and presentation of Jamaican Reg

gae music globally. The author relies on his own research, and studies conducted by other experts, as well as his experience as a 30 year industry practitioner, to examine the questions - Who is responsible?

Jamaica Festival Song Contest 2022 - Media Press Conference

DID THE JCDC FALL ASLEEP ON THE JOB?

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission was established under Jamaican law in 1968 to do the following:

(a) promote cultural programmes and activities in communities throughout the Island;
(b) encourage and organize each year independence anniversary celebrations and other celebrations marking occasions of national interest;
(c) stimulate the development of local talents by means of training, workshops, competitions, exhibitions, pageants, parades, displays and such other activities as the Commission may from time to time determine;

Please watch the press conference hosted by the JCDC in the “live” link below and express your opinion.

In my view the JCDC should bear full responsibility for the unfortunate and embarrassing cancelation of the Jamaica Festival Song Competition in this our 60th anniversary - not the artists, and not the panel of judges.

The Scorchers Rocksteady Reggae Band has exciting news!
“We just recorded some amazing vocals with the one and only Mr. Freddie Notes! Freddie is The Scorchers’ Special Guest on our original Ska track, "Its A Scorcher," which we are planning to release as a single as well as on our forthcoming album, ROCKSTEADY REVOLUTION.
“The session with The Scorchers went down happily. It’s a happy sound with original overtones. I truly enjoyed it!” -Freddie Notes
After a short warm up, Freddie was magnificent: one take, and that one take was brilliant! I must admit that I was smiling all the way through the session, especially when I heard Freddie sing the line, ‘The Farmer said to the potato, I'll dig you later.’”
-Steve Carley, co-founder/songwriter/drummer
