Introducing Manasi Pimpley, performing artist-singer at Rasa: A glimpse into Hindu Sanskriti on Oct 29, 2021.
While growing up, Dr. Manasi Pimpley lived in multiple states within India, which gave her ample exposure to the cultural riches of India, and her love for music and languages. Manasi has been singing since she was 6, and although she does not have any formal training in music except for some light music classes in her childhood for a year, she listened to and learned Bollywood songs with the help of her parents who are big music lovers themselves. Manasi won prizes in many local city-wide and state-wide singing competitions and was shortlisted twice for India’s SaReGaMaPa but didn’t get a chance to get to the telecast due to age restrictions in the competition.
Manasi came to the US in 2012 to pursue research, but that didn’t stop her from keeping up with her hobby. She participated in local talent shows, her university’s Acapella group as a Soprano, as well as collaborated with other artists on YouTube. Manasi was recently the winner of IRCC’s solo singing competition held virtually in May 2021.
Professionally, Manasi obtained her Ph.D. in Pharmacogenomics from NSU in 2018, where she did research in breast cancer. Manasi currently lives in Boca Raton with her husband and puppy Loki and works as a Field Application Scientist for a genomics company. Manasi’s genre is mostly semi-classical and Bollywood songs, but she hopes to keep expanding her horizons and learning in music as she goes forward.
