VIRIDITAS
14X18” Original Oil on Birch Wood Panel with Encaustic

In my recently finished painting, Viriditas, I drew inspiration from Hildegard von Bingen’s concept of “viriditas,” her vision of divine “greenness” or life-force flowing through creation.

This painting reflects a woman’s personal journey—a woman’s profile, with hair blossoming into vibrant flowers, mirrors spiritual awakening and love for nature’s vitality. The floating blossoms and hummingbird captures a sense of divine energy, while the light-filled background echoes my belief in God’s nurturing presence, connecting the earth and its sacred renewal.

The original as well as choices in reproduced formats: watercolor prints, hand-embellished canvas prints, and glass reproductions are available. Prices vary from $120+.

BLOOD MOON

A “blood moon” is a captivating celestial event that occurs during a lunar eclipse when the Earth passes between the sun and the moon. The moon takes on a deep red or copper hue due to the scattering of sunlight through the Earth’s atmosphere, which filters out shorter wavelengths and bathes the lunar surface in a striking crimson glow.

Metaphorically, the blood moon can be seen as a symbol of choices and the anticipation of desires. Just as the moon’s transformation is the result of the Earth’s position and the interplay of cosmic forces, our choices and actions can lead to unexpected outcomes that shape our desires and aspirations.

The blood moon reminds us of the ever-changing nature of life and the need to navigate our choices with anticipation and adaptability as we strive to achieve our deepest desires under the shifting influence of circumstances.

ARTISTS EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT AND PERSONAL INVESTMENT

Artists, especially when first starting to sell or gift their art, experience how difficult and emotional it is to let go. Ask anyone that knows me well, I have actually turned down collectors that wanted to purchase my work because it felt like a part of me would feel incomplete or missing. (I don’t feel this way anymore!)

One of the most common reasons is the profound emotional bond artists form with their creations. Artwork is frequently described as an extension of the artist’s soul, personality, or inner world—infused with their ideas, emotions, struggles, and personal experiences. This makes letting go feel like severing a part of themselves, similar to giving away a child or a diary entry.

Fortunately, with modern technologies, this does not necessarily have to be the case. I have discovered so many cool ways to reproduce my work and actually create a larger audience due to collectors personal tastes, preferences, and pocketbooks.

NEW MEDIA AVAILABLE. I now can offer my images using BEAUTIFUL Acrylic Glass Finish for VERY AFFORDABLE PRICING ~ HD reproductions using a high end Fuji Crystal Paper. The results are amazing, clean and modern. As an additional feature, I can print images using a translucent effect and feature LED lighting behind to further bring my images to life (Thanks to my husband’s idea)

UNCAGED WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT CREATIVE ALLIANCE
for their 2025 BIG SHOW they host every year for their members.

Creative Alliance brings together artists and audiences from various backgrounds to experience arts and education programs and engage in the creative process.

This is the first year I decided to exhibit at this show and hope it will be a success. I have seen some BEAUTIFUL work at dropoff as well as some interesting pieces!!

We are looking for a few more Maryland Artists and Makers to participate in our upcoming ART-FOR-ARTS-SAKE 3RD Annual Show hosting both emerging artistic talent as well as more established.
In addition, we are opening up a position for an emerging young artist (16 or younger) that is interested in showing their work.

“SACRED SENTINELS”

I have always known that trees are more than mere plants. They stand as vigilant, divine guardians, deeply rooted in earth but reach toward the spiritual realm of the sky.

Whenever life feels heavy or out of balance or I just want to connect with nature, I walk for miles through my neighborhood.

I am surrounded by a breathtaking, wooded landscape ~ brimming with life and beauty. These walks are where I reconnect with myself, feeling the trees’ quiet strength as if they’re sharing their wisdom.

When I decided to paint a tree as the focal point of my artwork, I wasn’t sure I could capture their essence without weaving in a human story. But I realized trees have their own divine intelligence, standing as Sacred Sentinels that hold the memories of time in their fibers.
In my painting, I use vibrant greens, blues and earthy browns, with soft glimmers of light to show their electric, spiritual energy—a living network connecting them to us, to animals, and to each other.

Sacred Sentinels will be available for purchase upon completion. Glass and watercolor prints and hand-embellished canvas reproductions are all available in custom sizes and finishes.

FRIDA (2020) 36”x42”

Known for her uncompromising self-portraits that often dealt with human body, death & identity, Frida Kahlo is an artist I’ve admired ever since I started painting years ago (I even named one of my dogs after her!). My rendition uses the strong lighting of a chiaroscuro style in an attempt to capture the light and dark, ups and downs of her life. I have several archival prints ready to ship for those interested in having this piece on their walls. People ask me all of the time “what does this painting mean?” and “what were you thinking?” and the answer is that my inspiration comes from not as much thinking, but more feeling.
