Good Afternoon, 🍁 ☀️

Today I am sharing a little bit more about my art practice, thoughts, and things you may not know I do as an artist.

The mosaic pictured in the newsletter is a coaster I created from broken titles.

I have another mosaic design on a terra cotta pot. Using the same principle; using broken titles and ceramic pieces in the same design—a flower. ❤️ I’ll post that picture in the comments.
The ceramic pieces were from mug I purchased from Fine Field Pottery. I accidentally broke it one day and was so upset. I didn’t want to throw away the pieces— I saved them.

I love Gavin’s work and have several of his pieces. In fact, last year in one of my design classes we discussed what makes a product well made; I chose to highlight his work.

Those mosaics were created, probably 2 years ago now.

Watercolor—Is a delicate medium to work with. I dabble in that from time to time.

Oh there’s so much more to talk about, but I’ll leave that for another day. 😊

Roses: They are a delicate and fragrant flower, but even more beautiful on a tabletop. I often buy roses to spruce up the ambience of my dining room. A baker's dozen represents the perfect combination, offered to a woman who is highly creative and delicate, just as the nature of the rose itself.

Redesigned from an older painting…

🌹 Here's my concept-

💡 MY VISION!
I am currently stuck doing homework, but I took some time out to digitally develop what I want to see as a finished piece with oil paint.

This is a screen shot from my daughter’s phone. My phone wouldn't save my work the first 5 times. You think I would have learned the first 2! Hahah

I want to paint with my palette knife; thick bold paint and expressive marks! 💪 I'm half way through a Greek Mythology course.

I am not loving it, 🙈 but it does explain so much. I can't wait to be finished with classes!!!

Sunflower seeds - a study.

I'm developing a full cycle of a sunflower as well as the journey to them. I will begin with small observational drawings in vine charcoal and eventually transition into larger-scale oil paintings, which I'm very excited about!!!

It's been awhile since I've done a painting on a very large scale. Both mediums will be combined in the series. I can visualize it in my head and am in love with the idea!

I love visual concepts like this. I rearranged seeds from a sunflower head of mine that's been drying out and drafted a drawing up. While sitting at an angle I thought, yes! This is what I will work towards.

It was a wonderful opening reception for The Abbey Gallery and Studio last night! I have seven pieces of artwork exhibited there now. I’d also like to congratulate all the artists who are showing as well!

❤️ My favorite part of the night was Rev. Stasys Neimanas’s daughter conversing with board director, Doug, and giving an exceptional explanation about her father’s mosaic pieces. A man who persevered through life and found refuge in creating art. This presentation gives a glimpse into his life and how art transformed his soul to keep persisting through life, in those unsure moments, and the love for his wife.

I loved everything about last night. It was a great turnout and a beautiful vision for Ottawa, IL, that is now available to artists!
