One of those fellows uses the pseudonym Jason Frank to record his own music, so I invited him to join the roster. From there the event developed a format similar to Christian Harbor's monthly Youth Pulse services. I invited one of my local favorites, Juanetta Romaine, to speak at the event, and she also accepted.

Here are some shots of the area near the gazebo where the main event will be taking place.

There is a stream not far from the front of the gazebo with two bridges across, one on the left, and one on the right, but the bridges are somewhat distant from the center area. Eventually, I would like to have a portable bridge we can lay across the center, something relatively light and easy to move.

A Praise in the Park is coming to Orrville on July 15, 2023, as you all should know, but we are also planning on spreading out to other dates and locations around Ohio next year. Who knows where this will take us?

With that being said, I (Corey Finney) have done this all by myself in years past: all the planning and fundraising; but this year, with the help of some visionary friends (one in particular), we are starting up a nonprofit to expand.

Our first year, in 2016, was entered into quite blindly, and much has been learned along the way, and there is much more to learn as we prepare for launching into broader horizons.

As I said before, all the money in years past came from personal donations directly to me, an allotment from church for a couple years, a sponsorship from my employer, and a little bit of digital crowdfunding; but now we are reaching out into the local communities seeking out businesses who are willing to help fund the events. As such, the nonprofit has become somewhat of a necessity to help with receiving sponsor donations and public relations.

After a few weeks of contacting people we know who have had active interest in the event here in Orrville, as of this Friday, April 21 2023 we finally have all of the needed recruits to make this happen. What a headache! I'm sure there are more to come, but here's to one step taken out of a zillion!

This year I am not doing A Praise in the Park. After last year's event, Exalted Dirt had three musicians join, and the learning process for us has been slow. I already have involvement in several other things, so I decided to skip the event this year for simplicity's sake.

It has been SO LONG. 2020 was a wasted year for A PRAISE IN THE PARK and for Exalted Dirt. It's time to get back on the horse again. Saturday, July 24 is the new date for the next one. Get ready!

I finally got around to posting this! The stupid plague has caused a bit of trouble here in my area of the woods. Changes in my work schedule and location have caused me to struggle with "normal" day-to-day routines. Add to this the fact that things are still a bit open-ended concerning public gatherings. Additionally, thoughts concerning time, money, and preparation required to make A Praise in the Park happen this year have been overshadowing me, so I prayerfully decided to abandon the event this year. Let's give it a fresh start next year, yes?

WARship. This energetic 4-piece group from Grove City, Ohio showed up late because they had to replace their drummer with a stand-in, since their usual drummer was held up at his job.

From the initial date in 2016, I have attempted to make this event larger each time. Maybe someday it’ll be bigger than Woodstock!

Karen Garrard Jones and I welcome Jennifer Plumer Harris, who joined us just last weekend. The three of us will be doing a bit of stuff from the days when we all led worship out at the The Doylestown United Methodist Church - OH, as well as some newer things, including an original I composed.
My Pastor, John Boggs, confirmed his attendance for September 9. He will be doing a few of his own southern gospel ditties.
Karen Garrard Jones will be joining me for the date. I'm glad she made herself available for this date. We will be doing some techno-rock CCM praise and worship songs.
As stated on the event page, I was forced to cancel the July 22 date. However, there is a possibility we can try again on September 9. I will have details soon concerning whether this will work.
