HISTORY
Black Cat is an Orlando tradition dating back to one fateful “Friday the 13th” in May of 1994. Because it’s held on the Second Friday of each month, some of the time it falls on a Friday the 13th. We like that, and that’s how it got its “Black Cat” name!
PERFORMERS
It is a open-mic coffee house! That means if you show up and ask, you can get up on stage and sing, dance, play music, read a monologue or poetry or whatever! Sign-up starts at 7:30 pm. You get a 15-minute set.
There’s a very supportive audience that likes first-time performers. So if you’ve wanted to try to do something on stage, but were afraid to do so, this is the place to do it! Plus, Black Cat Café has a reputation for having some of the best local professional acts dropping in now and again to try out new material.
Regular performers over the years have included and still include Jim Allen, Bari Clark, Stephen Grayce, “Bulldog” Ben Basile, “Top Cat” Cook, Susie Cool, Chip Dockery, Luv Me Deux, The Old Guys on the Porch, and many more!
MENU
The snack bar includes domestic and imported beers, wine, water, soft drinks, coffee, pizza by the slice, brownies, and other goodies. All are available by a very reasonable “suggested donation.”
