Carbon for Unreal was just used for Carrie Underwood's Residency at Resorlts World, and we made the cover story for this month's TPI Magazine Issue.
Commenting on this more ‘realistic’ style of pre-visualisation was Whitehouse’s number two, Brian Vaughan, the show’s co-Lighting Designer and Technical Director. “We’ve worked with every pre-vis under the sun and this setup just seems to be above and beyond
all the others when it comes to detail and overall smoothness,” he enthused. “One of the benefits is that you’re able to show the end
client the show and they can understand what they are looking at. With most other visualisers, you don’t really know what you’re looking at unless you’re an LD.

Here's a sneak peek at what we're working on in the lab, we've managed to render 1000 beams with gobos (without lights mind you) at a very high frame rate. This will make it over to Carbon for Unreal in the next major update.

01/27/2021

Hi Folks,
Sorry for the long thread, we have a number of updates to share on our development progress with Carbon for Unreal
We just wrapped up a really great day of testing. We were able to repair and calibrate a number of features for a good handful of lights:
• Clay P**y Sharpy
• Clay P**y Sharpy Wash
• Varilite VL6K Beam
• Varilite VL4000 Spot
• Robe Mega Pointe
• Robe Esprite
• Solaris Flare
• GLP X4 Bar 20
Tomorrow we are wrapping up on:
• Mac Aura
• Preliminary JDC1 Support
Additionally, we will go through the lights we have packaged, and make sure they at least turn on and match MA3D reasonably well. If we see anything that is not awesome, we’ll be flagging as “do not package” in our library so we aren’t teasing.

Now for the news you actually want to hear….
The challenge deadline is currently Sunday, and we know you all want to put your best foot forward. Since we haven’t packaged the update yet, this isn’t realistic to put this kind of pressure on you. While we have seen some awesome work in progress, we know some fixtures are not usable. The answer is very clear to us, we need to give you more time. Based on our progress with the lights we’ve put through their paces, we think we can have a really solid offering at the beginning of next week. To give you ample time to put this to use, we’ll accept submissions until midnight Feb 14th. After submitting, we will allow you to continue playing with the plugin until the contest winners are announced before March 1st.
Furthermore, we are working on terms for a temporary “pandemic special” that reflects our desire to help get folks back to work. We’ll share more in the coming days.
