NEW RESTAURANT NEAR DISNEY WORLD! 🍽️🍹
We checked out the brand-new Flatlands Bar & Grill at Flamingo Crossings, just minutes from Walt Disney World, and this one absolutely deserves the attention of Disney food fans!
Flatlands has some serious Disney dining talent behind it. Owner Nick Valenti is the former CEO of Patina Restaurant Group, while Executive Chef Dominique Filoni previously worked at Cítricos and spent six years at Topolino’s Terrace.
But connections only get you so far. How was the FOOD?
We tried a little bit of everything, including the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Heirloom Tomato & Burrata, Mini Lobster Rolls, Creamed Corn, and three different steaks.
And then there was the Sweet & Spicy Cauliflower. 🌶️
I did NOT expect cauliflower to be one of the dishes we'd still be talking about afterward, but here we are. Sweet, savory, a little spicy, and almost reminiscent of orange chicken. I would go back just for this appetizer.
The steaks were another huge standout. We tried the filet, NY strip, and a massive 22 oz. ribeye, and all three were cooked perfectly. Even better, each steak includes a potato and sauce, which makes the pricing pretty compelling compared with some of the steakhouses around Disney property.
And DON'T skip the cocktails. The Orange Blossom Collins was easily my favorite. Citrus-forward, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. 🍊
Flatlands itself is beautiful, with an industrial-chic dining room, huge bar, and a massive covered outdoor patio that should be fantastic once Florida remembers what cooler weather is.
We finished the night a few doors down at the new Vivoli il Gelato because obviously the appropriate response to a large dinner is gelato. 🍨
Flamingo Crossings is quickly becoming a dining area Disney fans shouldn't overlook, and Flatlands gave us a very good reason to venture outside the Disney bubble.
