Metro has "community placemaking" grants available. The idea comes from the community the effort is intended to serve. Those community members, especially people of color or other historically marginalized communities, play a role in making it happen. Arts or cultural activities bring people together to strengthen their connection to each other and the places they care about. Due Oct 7.

Up to $200,000 will be awarded in grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 for community-led, equity-centered, arts and culture based efforts in the greater Portland region. The Art-O-Maddic gallery in Canby is taking on a huge, exciting project by organizing a city wide arts festival in Canby this summer. The festival will showcase Canby-area artists in all forms: visual, literary, performing, musical, food artisans, and others. Their goal is to showcase the amazing diversity of artists from all backgrounds while educating folks on the rich cultural history.

Congrats on your grant award this year!

All original, all hand-made, and all unique art in all different mediums. Paint, glass, wood, ceramic, metal, jewelry, and more. This is not your typical art gallery. This is a gallery for the artists and the people.

From the Bloomin Boutique: "The children we serve have few, if any, belongings. Our packages for them include clothing as well as hygiene items, bedding, school supplies, and (for the younger children) a book and maybe a stuffed animal. Recently we realized we were not addressing another important need — art. These children do not have the same opportunities as other children to explore their creative side. Their families, by necessity, see such things as luxuries. Our plan is to begin including art and craft supplies with our packages, to ease a different kind of deprivation." We are proud to support this organization this year with a project grant!

Bloomin' Boutique provides foster and underprivileged youth new clothing and other items to the extent made possible by your generous donations. We cover boys and girls of all ages infant through 18 years. Using a referral process, we partner with other community organizations and agencies to provid...
