🚨 Valley Lanes is RE-OPENING today!! 🚨
At approximately 6:00 PM on Tuesday (the one day we’re closed during the week 🙄), a 1.5” copper main line buried about 5.5 feet underground ruptured. Over the next 14 hours, an estimated 475,000 gallons of water flowed through the building.
I teamed up with my ex-father-in-law, who also owns a restoration company, and over the next 3 days we had 11 technicians working around the clock. We ran 50+ pieces of drying equipment utilizing EVERY circuit in the building in order to get things dried out.
Finding someone to take on the plumbing repair wasn’t easy either. Not everyone works on 1.5” lines, and even fewer are willing to break up concrete and dig up a manhole to get to the source. Thankfully, Ogborn Plumbing stepped up and Dave and Jay were onsite within a couple hours and got the job handled.
After 5 days of drying, we were finally able to begin reconstruction. As of reopening today, we’ll have brand new flooring in the kitchen, snack bar, and pool table/dart board room. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be painting and installing new base trim throughout the building. The arcade and bathroom flooring will also be replaced eventually (flooring that was just done 3 years ago).
Unfortunately, my insurance claim was denied due to exclusions in the policy. In short, damage from a ruptured pipe and anything below grade isn’t covered. A $10,000/year policy, and no coverage for water damage. I didn’t even know you could a buy a policy that didn’t include water damage!! 🤯
I’ve decided not to start a GoFundMe, even though so many of you encouraged it. I feel like this is something I need to take on myself. I just want to simply ask you to PLEASE come support the lanes. Bring your family and friends in to bowl. Try out some of our newer game modes like Sniper Bowling, Golf Bowling, or Red Pin Bowling. Hit the arcade and grab a bite to eat. Rumor has it we’ve got one of the best burgers in town. My go-to is the Valley Lanes Special, inspired by the old Dairy Queen Charkel burger.
With your continued support, I truly believe we can have everything fully put back together within the next 6–8 months.
Thank you all for sticking with us through a very difficult time. It means more than you know.
