So now that we know what burlesque is… what can you expect at a show?! 👀💃🏽

Whether it’s your first time or you’re a regular, here are 5 things to know:

1. Expect Variety
Burlesque isn’t just st******se! You might see comedy, drag, circus acts, or live music—styles range from classic glam to wild satire.
2. Be Loud, Be Respectful
Cheer, clap, yell “Yasss!”—your energy fuels the show! But no touching or rude comments. Respect boundaries, even when performers get close.
3. Q***r, Body-Positive & Inclusive
Burlesque celebrates all bodies, genders, and identities. Local shows are sex-positive, community-centered, and full of love and acceptance.
4. Grown & Sexy Vibes
Yes, there’s (partial) nudity—pasties, thongs, sensuality, and some cheeky or bold humor. Most shows are 18+/21+. Come with an open mind!
5. Dress It Up (If You Want)
Vintage glam, themed fits, or just your best self—dressing up adds to the fun but isn’t required.

Burlesque? Darling, she’s been causing a scandal since the 1600s.

Starting as satire—mocking the elites in lace and wit.
By the time it hit Victorian stages, it traded poetry for pantaloons and made the audience gasp with every high kick.
Then America said, “Let’s add st******se,” and the rest is rhinestone-studded history.

Twirling through the roaring ’20s, draped in feathers and flirtation,
served elegance with a wink in the ’40s,
then got pushed aside by TV and dime-store s**t.

But you can’t keep a showgirl down.

Burlesque came back in the ’90s with sequins, sass, and something to say—
welcoming all bodies, all genders, and all the power that comes with a slow peel and a bold strut.

Now, modern-day burlesque reaches many new styles and forms. From neo, draglesque, gore, and SO much more!
