Like many other Independent publications, Black Rivers Studio LLC has been affected by the impromptu closure of Comix Wellspring. I had sent the last wave of physical copies for Gear Boy: Ashcan Edition to press; weeks ago. Expecting to have product for my next two shows. Now I only have limited stock on hand.

So If you already have Gear Boy: Ashcan Edition, you have a RARE COPY from the originally intended print house. Because of this, I have decided to put the Ashcan BACK into preorder status, while I attempt to find a new print house for all things GearBoy and Black Rivers Studio.

This will likely affect my original release plans for GearBoy Vol.1: Part 1. I was originally eyeing a mid to late August release date. Now it may be pushed back until this Fall.

As the creative behind every aspect of this projects…I can’t even tell you how exhausted/disappointed I am. It’s a hard thing to deal with while completing the last few pages of artwork for Vol.1: Part 1.
I still remain determined to bring you the first chapter in the world of GearBoy. It’s just going to be a LONGER wait now.

During the heavy production period of GearBoy, I’ve had to turn down several commissions and convention opportunities. I don’t regret this. However; makes it very difficult to keep up with the fees involved with printing and selling online. If this continues, I will be forced to suspend online sales.

I hope to return to taking commissions in September. I will be finished with all my GearBoy duties until starting interiors for Vol.1:Part 2 in November. If you are serious about hiring me for work, don’t hesitate to get in contact NOW. Just don’t expect me to be able to deliver until after September.

A peek behind the scenes…

Meet my stand ins for Gan and Warhead. I use them for scaling reference in GEAR BOY VOL.1.

This shot will end up being used for either a promotional poster or alternative cover for Part 1. I love layouts that showcase dramatic size differences in characters.

In which - btw, I have 3 pages left to pencil, 8 pages to ink, 21 pages to greyscale and a bunch of pages to letter 😵‍💫.

This weekend I’ll be ordering my last batch of on hand copies of last years GEARBOY preview book (the Ashcan Edition). As well as working on cover A and C of GB Vol1. Part1.
