Last month, celebrated 21 years of impact.

Since opening in 2005, UAB Rec has been more than a recreation facility. It has served as a hub for student development, leadership growth, community building, and well-being. Through innovative programs, meaningful employment opportunities, and exceptional experiences, UAB Rec has helped shape generations of students while strengthening the UAB community.

For 21 years, UAB Rec has demonstrated that campus recreation is about more than fitness. It is about creating opportunities, developing leaders, fostering belonging, and making a lasting impact on the student experience.

Campus center performance is not a reflection of individual capability. It reflects the strength and cohesion of the model that supports it. When alignment across structure, staffing, and support begins to erode, the impact is immediate. Capacity is strained, consistency declines, and performance levels off. Even the strongest teams cannot sustain results without the right operational foundation. This session explores how leaders across multiple institutions are approaching AI with intention, focusing on what it takes to implement it responsibly, equitably, and at scale.
