“I don’t want this life!” After defeating Renoir, we find ourselves with another impossible decision. Verso stumbles into a room and finds a faceless boy on the ground painting without ceasing, asking him if he wants to stop. But Alicia (Maelle) doesn’t want him to. And as they clash in their choices, we must choose to fight as Maelle and save the canvass or fight as Verso to destroy it. I wrest with my rationale of what to do, and in the end, fear I made the wrong choice. 🗡️

As Renoir pleads once more Alicia to give up the canvass and come heal together with the family. She tells him she must stay, that she needs to stay as she cannot give up her friends, her brother. And while Renoir is skeptical of her decision, he concedes. Tells her that he hopes she finds peace and that he’ll be waiting for her to return. Some day. 🗡️

“Let’s keep going on adventures forever!” As we prepare for the final battle with Renoir, Verso discusses with Esquie how much Francois misses Clea. And Esquie agrees, telling Verso that he waits for her to return every day. Verso then asks him if he misses the real Verso, but Esquie reminds him that no matter what they are friends, and that he cares for this Verso no less than the other Verso. And it’s in this moment that Esquie and Verso complete their bond. 🗡️

“You deserve a new beginning.” After bringing Noco back in the river, Verso questions Monoco and his desire to not have him wait in the queue like everyone else. And here is where we learn that the river was never meant to be a queue, that the original Verso created it in order to allow them all to come back and have new beginnings and not fear the overall feelings of loss. And while Monoco is worried about what will happen if they defeat Renoir, he knows that Verso, this version, deserves a new beginning. No matter what that looks like. 🗡️

And how beauitful it is that he is the reason she continued to live. 🗡️

“She would have been six.” Before our final encounter with Renoir, we spend time as Verso completing the story arcs of the remaining members of Expedition 33. As we have one of our final encounters with Sciel, she tells us what happened after she lost her husband, Pierre. She explains how she attempted to lose her life int he water, but woke up back in Lumiere. Worst of all, she found out that she had been pregnant and lost her child. And while she desperately wants her husband back, she is terrified of telling him that she lost their child. 🗡️
