You’re Going to Die: Poetry, Prose, & Everything Goes - a GRIEF & GRATITUDE OPEN MIC event, the communal offering for us to explore the conversation of death & dying, to embrace our losses & mortality, to grieve, bereave & honor what we’ve lost & love… while all the while making room with connected community, in laughter & in tears, for the joy & gratitude at simply being ALIVE.

Me, jumping into Lake Pontchartrain, Jan 2022. When I tell you I really didn’t want to this, I mean I seriously did not want to do this, but somehow let convince me for our music video. It was, pardon my French, *fu***ng* cold. This was the last time I was in New Orleans! And I am returning this week for Halloween 🎃 come find me?

Is time speeding up, am I getting old, is it both? Either way, I don’t care. I’m just happy to still be here, and celebrating one last quarter of grad school (???) which is a bit bonkers.

I’ve been in a portal, y’all. The last three years have shaped me and reshaped me over again. I have more smile lines around my eyes and cracks in my heart. Good, bittersweet, cracks. The kind that build character! I’m treating this trip as a weeklong artist date (no homework… yay!) in which I’m going to undoubtedly end up in a parade, listen to the best music, eat soul food, get spoked, be spooky (well… let’s be real, she’s more flirty than spooky), eavesdrop, and hopefully put some good eaves-droppings into my rom com. (BTW, I’m writing a screenplay, isn’t that nuts??)

Anyway. I’ve been limiting my time in the IG realm, so let’s meet in the Big Easy if you’re here too. One of the best places I’ve found to feed the spirit!

Thank you, thank you for this beautiful life! And for another trip around the sun 🌞 My goodness I am grateful. Especially to my Mom, for bringing me into this beautiful world and for baking me birthday cakes at 6 am for as long as I can remember. I’m getting the best present of all today — spending the day with her 🩷

thank you to all the bright flowers that delight me in this world and remind me to shine big and bright, thank you to sunsets and sparkles on water, thank you to my friends and family, to my big sister… I especially love being Auntie!! My nephews and niece make my world go ‘round.

I can’t wait for this new chapter of learning and growing and relaxing and taking it in, slowly and sweetly 🐢 ✨
