As Pinoys/Pinays growing up listening to our parents’ music from the homeland, we have decided to arrange a number of OPM Pasko covers to play every holiday season. We hope listening to these songs brings you as much joy as it has been for us arranging, learning and playing them!

Appreciation post to our Kalinga Culture Bearer Manang Jenny Bawer Young for her mentorship and ongoing support of our Agos youth! Our youth had an opportunity to learn the basics of Kalinga instruments, Mambulong, Banga and Salip from Agos instructors Kuya Jon Mercado and Tita Herna Cruz-Louie who have learned directly from Manang Jenny! We cannot thank her enough for all her support.

Congratulations to our Salip and Banga soloists, Nina Honrada and Kadean Serafino-Agar, on an amazing job well done! These high school youth performed in front of hundreds of people and in front of Manang Jenny. Their bravery really shined through!

Our AGOS YOUTH SHOW at 1pm is tomorrow - Sunday, December 14 - and sold out!! AND you can all still come and support our youth and community vendors by coming to our Agos Holiday Market from 2:30-4pm at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center (FREE and Open to the Public!!). Featured live performances by and the Agos Rondalla! Come get your holiday shopping done and support local/small Pilipino-owned businesses and artists!! 5% of all purchases go towards supporting KULARTS and our Agos Program!!

What a beautiful way to honor our ancestors and share the tradition of UNDAS with our Agos Families today! We gathered, the kids rehearsed, we potlucked and ate, made art, and contributed to a shared altar to honor and celebrate the lives of our ancestors and loved ones who have passed on from this world. SALAMAT to those to joined us last Saturday at the Hayward Public Library Weekes Branch for our brief presentation and demos of Philippine folkloric dance and music in the diaspora!!
The presentation was led by our Agos Program Director, Herna Cruz-Louie and Agos Program Lead Instructor for Grades 6-12, Jonathan Mercado, accompanied by members of our amazing Agos Rondalla and Percussion Ensemble! We love presenting at our local libraries that provide us opportunities to engage with audiences beyond the stage. Shout out to the staff for your support and providing this program to celebrate FilAm History Month! 🙏🏽🇵🇭🇺🇸
