Looking at all these happy, fascinated faces from the last Queen Lessons event makes us so excited to do it again! Come out for Queen Stories, A Night of Women Storytellers, this coming Saturday, Oct 25th at Pier 23 Cafe in SF because there is nothing like coming together in person to laugh.

Put your name in the hat to tell a five minute story this Saturday, Oct 25th at Queen Stories: A Night of Women Storytellers at Pier 23 Cafe in San Francisco 6pm.

If you'd like to tell a story, the only requirements are that you must tell it not read it (no notes onstage), it must be a story from your own perspective, five minutes long or less and for this particular show we are looking for persons who identify as women to tell. The theme is 'Queen Stories' so any story from your own perspective as a queen will do! Maybe you have a funny story, a sad story, a moving story - maybe a little bit of it all! We'd love to see you there!

[ARTIST SPOTLIGHT] Joyful Raven is an award-winning actor, director, and "story midwife" known for her powerful and thought-provoking solo shows. Born into an iconic political theater family, she has been creating theater for as long as she can remember. Her first solo comedy, Tales of a Sexual Tomboy, won Best of the Fringe at the 2016 San Francisco International Fringe Festival and had an Off-Broadway run in 2017. Her current show, Breed or Bust, recently completed a successful run at The Marsh in Berkeley and was named a 'Critics' Pick' by the San Francisco Chronicle after receiving critical acclaim at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it was nominated for an Offie. The show was also nominated for Best Comedy at the 2022 Hollywood International Fringe Festival, receiving a Producer’s Encore Award and a Gold Medal from TV-olution. Raven has acted alongside big names such as Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happyness, directed and mentored hundreds of storytellers, co-founded Rococo Risqué, and co-authored four plays for the Prize of Hope-winning company Human Nature. She holds an MFA from UC Davis and teaches solo theater and storytelling at the Berkeley Rep School of Theater and her Oakland studio.

[ARTIST SPOTLIGHT] Kimberlli Joy has been weaving the truth into humorous stories for as long as she can remember. She is a familiar face at Redwood Nights Storytelling under the Stars and has entertained audiences at Oakland Story Slam, About Last Night, The Moth and The Marsh. As the co-host of Gem Tales with Andrea Page, she gets excited uncovering the gems in the stories that shape us.

[ARTIST SPOTLIGHT] It's no surprise that Kathryn Seabron's one woman show, Angry Black Woman 101, was named Best of the Fest at SF Fringe Festival and enjoyed an extended run at the Marsh as Seabron is one artist that folks just keep wanting more of. A self-described Creatrix, Activist, Sex-Educator, Producer, Director, Actor, Dancer, Choreographer, Ecdysiast, & Mistress of Ceremonies her background is so varied as to provide endless inspiration for her storytelling.

Her theatrical career began as a Stage Manager for the historic Lorraine Hansberry Theater and she has since directed for the Asian American Theater, African American Theater Company, Oakland Ensemble Theater Company and Oakland Public Theater.

In addition to being a storyteller and director, she's also an internationally renowned burlesque performer Juicy D. Light and is the HBIC of the award winning troupe Rubenesque Burlesque.

We can't wait to see what kind of 'Queen Story' this undeniable queen will be bringing to the stage at Pier 23 on October 25th at Queen Stories: a Night of Women Storytellers. Don't miss this one-time special event!
