Denton ISD Fine Arts welcomes Braswell High School Percussion Director Mr. Jesus Martinez!
Mr. Martinez is a music educator, percussion specialist, composer, and arts leader with more than a decade of experience serving students across North Texas. Most recently, he served as Assistant Band Director and Percussion Director at South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie ISD, where his students and ensembles earned national recognition, including designation as a Mark of Excellence National Percussion Ensemble Honors National Winner (2025), an invitation for the South Grand Prairie Wind Ensemble to perform at the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference(2025), and an invitation for the South Grand Prairie Percussion Ensemble to perform at the 2024 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) after earning Second Place in the International Percussion Ensemble Competition (IPEC). A four-time Quarterfinalist for the Music Educator Award presented by The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Museum, Martinez is dedicated to advancing music education through excellence, innovation, and student-centered learning. Beyond the classroom, he is an active composer whose music is published by C. Alan Publications and Murphy Music Press. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), a Professional Member of The Recording Academy(©The GRAMMY’s), and a Vic Firth Educational Artist. Known for fostering creativity, leadership, and artistic achievement, Martinez is committed to empowering young musicians to reach their fullest potential both on and off the stage.
