Oak Harbor Art

Oak Harbor Art In the OHHS art room, students can expect to be in a laidback, judgement free environment where they are welcome to express themselves in anyway.

Students use a variety of media including graphite, charcoal, acrylic paint, metal, clay, watercolors, ink, among many other materials. The OHHS art department participates in many community activities including creating favors for the annual Senior Citizen Luncheon, face painting at various events, creating play props, hosting fundraisers for chosen organizations, participating in Halloween in th

e Halls, creating art for Veterans Park, among other community opportunities. This growing program offers monthly community clay nights and summer art camps for elementary-aged students. We hope our excitement and enthusiasm about art spreads to our community so everyone learns to appreciate the little things in life, because EVERYTHING is a form of art.

Art portfolio presentations were a great way to end the school year. Students shared images of their art, along with an artist statement. They spoke about the work they liked, the work they didn't like, and how they would change the project if they could. I thoroughly enjoy listening to these reflections every year.

Ms. Weis' 3rd grade class created wonderful Harry Potter-inspired owls with the high school art department today. Students used rulers and 3 different watercolor techniques to complete their creations. Owls are a requirement to get into Hogwarts. I thoroughly enjoyed working with this very creative group today.
