Folks, I recently had the opportunity to visit one of my bucket list funky-fab-nostalgia-y destinations and it’s a must share! While in PA , I made my way out to the
Wholeheartedly, the museum is a must see, must experience. The quantity of the collections and the size of the museum cannot be understated. My photos can’t capture a fraction of how vast the tour is- You’ll be awestruck.
The museum captured everything I love - of course nostalgia and ephemera - but the amount of large scale “niche fossils” and remnants had me geeking out. LOVE a repurposed old mill building becoming a special hidden gem. Loved seeing fixtures and neons and signage from defunct places and brands. Extra geeked out when I spotted items that I have at the studio! I’m so moved by their work on preservation AND restoration. Seeing and hearing the working automatons that folks from a century (and even further back) were entertained by- yall 🥹. Documentation is so important - and the preservation, restoration, “saving” of items is massive and often disregarded. How many niche, historical, important, modernish Americana has been destroyed, demolished, or left to decay because folks in that time period saw something as unimportant - but now, we WISH we had something physical and tangible to prove it ever existed at all
(Side note - Later saw the last remnant of Palisades Park [1898] and this whole weekend experience was so inspiring and impactful. Last 3 pix are from there😭)
Aaaaand on top of it all - the museum’s been carrying NROR in their gift shop since 2024😭😭 How incredible is that?
Thank you so much for what you’ve curated and created, for how you’ve supported NROR, AND for the extra kindness and hospitality of your staff. The staff went the extra mile of taking me to see Chuck and the gang by foot- and I’m so honored I got to walk the path 💓
🩷💛💙💚💜
I’m feeling so extra appreciative of my lil nook at the and extra inspired to host some lil nostalgia experiences at the studio💞 how’s about a Nostalgia Night with some vintage upcycling crafts, surrounded by nostalgia? 😉
