A brand new ballet season begins!

There is something so special about walking back into the studio and beginning a new season all together. New goals, new challenges, new memories, and so many opportunities to grow, not only as dancers, but as a ballet family.

This season, we will work hard, support one another, celebrate each other’s accomplishments, and continue to push ourselves to become stronger, more confident, and more beautiful artists.

The studio is more than a place where we learn ballet. It is where friendships grow, confidence is built, and dancers learn the importance of dedication, discipline, teamwork, and believing in one another.

We are so excited to begin this brand new season together and cannot wait to see everything our dancers accomplish this year.

One of the most special parts of our Northport Academy of Ballet family is watching our older dancers guide and encourage the younger dancers.

There is something so meaningful about an experienced pointe dancer sitting beside a younger dancer and teaching her how to sew her very first pair of pointe shoes. What may seem like a simple tradition becomes a beautiful moment of mentorship. Sharing knowledge, patience, encouragement, and a love for ballet.

Our younger dancers look up to the older girls more than they may realize, and moments like these are what create such a strong ballet family. Passing down traditions, supporting one another, and celebrating milestones together is what makes the journey so special.

From one generation of dancers to the next… one stitch at a time.

Thank you so much Lizzie, Maddy and Tessa for always be here for the younger girls. For having the patience and love to show and teach them. The time you spend with them is so meaningful. You are all so wonderful 💗

A Moment Every Ballet Dancer Dreams Of…

There is something truly magical about a dancer receiving their very first pair of pointe shoes.

It’s not just a new pair of ballet shoes, it’s a milestone. A beautiful reminder of every plié, every relevé, every correction, every sore muscle, and every class where you chose to keep working and growing.

Pointe shoes are earned through dedication, strength, patience, and a love for ballet. Being told you are ready is a moment of pride not only for the dancer, but also for the teachers and family who have watched that journey unfold.

From the excitement of the first fitting to carefully sewing on those first ribbons, it is a memory that will always hold a special place in a dancer’s heart.

Niamh, you are so much fun to teach! You work incredibly hard and take every class and rehearsal so seriously, but the moment class is over, your fun and joyful personality shines through! You always make me smile, and all of the students and teachers absolutely adore you.

Nutcracker Choreography Week highlights!

There is something incredibly special about watching a group of dancers come together and slowly become a family.

Throughout Nutcracker Choreography Week, our dancers are learning so much more than choreography. They are learning how to work as a team, how to depend on one another, how to encourage each other, and how important every dancer is to the success of the entire production.

Some of the most meaningful moments happen between the dancing—the older dancers helping the younger ones, new friendships forming, dancers cheering each other on, and everyone working toward one shared goal.

Ballet may begin with individual technique, but a beautiful production is created together.
We are building The Nutcracker one rehearsal, one friendship, and one memory at a time. Most importantly, we are continuing to build the beautiful ballet family that makes Northport Academy of Ballet so special.

The magic onstage starts with the love and support we create inside the studio.

Julia Patilis is a professional ballet dancer and guest artist based in New York.

Most recently, Julia performed in Italy with Flodance under the direction of Margherita Nativo, former Étoile of Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

Julia is passionate about sharing her professional experience with young dancers and helping students develop strong classical technique, artistry, musicality, and confidence in the studio and onstage.
