The Dalí Quartet International Music Festival (DQMF) is a recognized chamber music and orchestral program founded in 2004 by Venezuelan violist Adriana Linares and violinist Carlos Rubio (members of the Dali String Quartet). The DQMF runs under the umbrella of ArCoNet, the Arts & Community Network, in collaboration with members of the Dali Quartet and the ArCoNet Facult
y. The DQMF offers students a unique experience through artistic, musical, educational, cultural and social experiences. Since its foundation in 2004, the Festival has attracted hundreds of musicians from all over the USA states, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela and Puerto Rico. The DCQF accepts students from beginner/intermediate through advanced/semi-professional levels. At the DQMF, students attend faculty recitals, daily chamber music coaching/rehearsals, string orchestra sectionals/rehearsals, master classes, fun social integrating activities, and a variety of workshops topics such as:
BAPNE Body Percussion, Instrument Making, Body Mapping and Body Awareness, Jazz Improvisation, College Preparation/Career Opportunities in Music, Venezuelan Folk Music, Brazilian Percussion, Japanese Flute, Middle Eastern Music, and Puerto Rican Plena Dance. Daily Coaching and Master Classes are led by prominent artist faculty with active international careers in music education and performance including members of the Dali Quartet, ArCoNet Academy, Philadelphia Orchestra, Annapolis Symphony and the New York City Ballet Orchestra and music faculty from The Oberlin Conservatory, Indiana University, Michigan State University, the Curtis Institute of Music, ArCoNet and Temple University. The ten day experience culminates with three exciting chamber music recitals featuring student chamber music groups and a Grand Finale Concert featuring three orchestra divisions: The Junior, The Youth and the Pre-College/College/Faculty. The performance ends with the Festival Orchestra comprised of all the students and faculty on stage. Current participants and alumni from the DQMF have followed careers in music having attended prestigious institutions such as the Curtis Institute of Music, Reina Sofia Conservatory, The Cleveland Institute of Music, Bard Conservatory, the Colburn School, University of Michigan, the New England Conservatory, Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, among others.
