Good morning CSA,
We just wrapped up our 4th contest of our "summer s**g series" at the Fat Man's house in North Myrtle Beach. This contest is always well attended and this year was no exception! A big thank you to Bryan and Morgan, Lulu and all the Harold's staff for always making CSA feel welcome, keeping our bellies and cold drinks full!
To our DJ Darrell, I know we said thank you at the membership meeting but you deserve another shout out for always willing to step up and help with our contest, thank you!
Thank you to the CSA board and volunteers of membership who helped make this contest run smooth. It literally takes a village so a big thank you to everyone who offered to help or stepped up to keep things running efficiently.
Friday night kicked off the Amateur division with 5 couples dancing to a packed house! It takes a lot of courage to get out on the floor and boogie. The Amateurs put on a great show and had huge support from the crowd. Watt Parker and Angela Tulloch took the first place trophy, it was their first WIN! Congratulations!
23 couples followed in the mixed doubles. That's right...23! Mixed doubles are always fun to watch and a good way to get on the floor and dance. If you have never signed up for one try next time, you won't regret it! This is one of the events everyone looks forward to this Labor Day weekend and this year did not disappoint! First place went to Scott Campbell and Kaylee Tuttle, they tore up the dance floor and it was so fun to watch! Thanks everyone for dancing!
Saturday's schedule was slammed packed full! CSA started off with a general membership meeting followed by a judges workshop. Vickie Chambers, head of the judges committee, asked Mike Pace, Myers Floyd and Jeff Hargett to be panelists for this educational workshop. I hope that those in attendance picked up a few pointers. Thank you to the panelist for taking the time to help preserve and improve our dance community.
The Junior S**g Preservation Association had a junior contest starting at 5pm. Check out Jason's Swaim facebook live videos if you missed it! Check out the JSPA page for pictures, placements, and if you want a smile to see all the children's smiling faces!
A nasty thunderstorm rolled in right before the Novice division was set to start but no one was raining on our parade! The Novice division had 10 couples and some new faces! April and John Brooks just moved up from Amatuer and danced in the "blood and guts" division for the first time. Salem Kirby took the floow and danced in her first Novice dance with Chad Farlow. Maxwell Rusmisell and Adriana Hearley not only were new to novice but also to dancing in a CSA contest and at the end took home first place! Thank you to all the new faces, welcome to the Novice division and we are all excited you are here!
Next up is senior pro with 8 couples. This group always shows up consistently, dances with a smile on their faces, and you can feel the energy and love they have for this dance. First place went to Gene Pope and Tobitha Stewart, congratulations!
The pro division was by far the largest of the CSA contest season. 11 pro couples danced to round out the night. Check out the YouTube channel for the live feed and soon the videos will be posted too. If you left early you really missed a show! We can not say thank you enough to all the dancers who came to share their talent with us to watch. As we rolled late into the evening the energy remained high and the crowd filled up the floor and were on the edge of their seats! Sam West and daughter Sidney West came out on top of this talented division. Congratulations!
Results are attached. Thanks again for coming this weekend to Fat Harold's!
Three more contests remain for the 2026 CSA season, make plans to join us!
Next up Capital City S**g Club October 3 in Lexington, SC!
Enjoy the rest of your Labor Day weekend, get some rest and see ya next on the dance floor!
