This Brushtail Possum was wondering what all the commotion was in the city’s parklands.

The festival of light is a yearly winter event merging displays of light with art.

Usually, I’d be opposed to intentional light pollution but as this is located in an already bright (Bortle 8) location, the effects are minimal.

Though the possum would disagree.

❄️Winter Solstice Star Party 🌌

Watching the satellite data every day last week leading up to the event, I was a bit skeptical about the weather.🌦️

But, the clouds parted just in time for the Winter Solstice Dark Sky weekend.

Another great night underneath the stars, with the Milky Way core being in full view from the internationally recognised dark sky reserve.

were there sharing optical and digital views of the sky with various telescopes.

PK Imaging had their Deep Space Theatre, projecting live-stacked deep space views onto a big screen.

Thanks so much to the organisers of the event, for creating another amazing experience!

This was a conjunction with the Moon, Jupiter and the star Pollux from last Wednesday.

Premier Showcase 2026 💃

On Sunday I had a lucky opportunity to photograph my daughter’s dance showcase.

She smashed it, as pictured, and had a blast while doing so.
