A meaningful founder moment today.

I recently had the opportunity to meet with representatives from WUSATA and the Washington State Department of Agriculture to learn more about what it would take for Vevien’s Cultural Hub to become export-ready in the future. What meant a lot to me was that both WUSATA and WSDA took Vevien’s Cultural Hub seriously and recognized its potential, even at this early stage.

It was such an encouraging reminder that building a venture is not only about what I sell today. It is also about preparing carefully for where I hope this work can go. Vevien’s Cultural Hub is still young, but conversations like this help me think bigger, plan better, and keep building step by step.

Tea, culture, connection. And maybe one day, a bridge from Washington to the wider world. 😃

TEA SCIENCE IN 30 SECONDS 🍵
Why Can One Tea Plant Become the Six Tea Categories? (Part 1: Green, White, & Black Tea)

It all comes down to processing!
Every true tea begins as a leaf on the exact same plant: Camellia sinensis. What happens after those leaves are plucked is what creates the magic in your final cup.

When tea leaves are rolled or bruised, their cell walls break open. Natural enzymes inside the leaf mingle with oxygen in the air, kicking off a process called oxidation, just like a sliced apple slowly turning brown on your kitchen counter.

🍃 Green Tea: Heated early to halt oxidation, locking in a fresh, vibrant, and greener flavor.
🍂 White Tea: Gently withered and dried. It undergoes minimal handling, keeping it delicate and lightly transformed.
☕ Black Tea: Fully oxidized. This process creates its signature darker color and richer, deeper flavor profile.

The simple takeaway:
Same tea plant. Different processing. A completely different cup!

If you learned something new today, please share this post with a fellow tea lover and help spread the word! 😊

TEA SCIENCE IN 30 SECONDS 🍵
What Does “Post-Fermented” Mean?

Think of it a little like wine aging.
After the tea leaves are processed, dark tea can continue to change over time. With careful storage, time helps the flavor become smoother, deeper, and more mellow.

That is what post-fermented means:
the tea keeps transforming after processing.

It is not just “dark-looking tea.” It is tea with an aging journey.

Liu Bao tea is one classic example of Chinese dark tea.

Simple takeaway:
Dark tea develops character over time: a little like wine.^_^

They say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, or in my case, a single cup of tea.
It felt surreal to stand there with my tea, my booth, my banner, my little sample gifts, and the first pieces of Cha by Vevien coming together in real life. For a long time, this venture has lived in my head, my notes, my late-night planning, my kitchen experiments, and many tiny behind-the-scenes decisions. Today, I finally got to share it with people face-to-face. It felt like a little seed I planted quietly for a long time finally started to sprout.
At the event, I talked about Liubao dark tea, cultural education, healthier everyday choices, and the kind of connection I hope tea can create. I met so many kind people, had meaningful conversations, and felt deeply encouraged.
From that early morning preparation to the quiet sunset drive back home, captured in that tired but happy selfie, my heart is just so full. Looking at the golden hour light, I realized this is truly just the beginning for Vevien’s Cultural Hub. I can’t wait to share more of this journey, more culture, and of course, many more cups of tea with all of you! ^_^

I’m so happy to introduce TeaBud, the little tea friend/pet of Vevien’s Cultural Hub. TeaBud is gentle, calm, curious, and full of warmth just like the kind of tea moments I hope to share through this space.
For me, TeaBud is more than just a cute character. TeaBud represents comfort, connection, and the simple joy of slowing down with a cup of tea. As Vevien’s Cultural Hub continues to grow, TeaBud will be joining me in sharing tea, culture, and meaningful little moments along the way.
I hope you’ll love TeaBud as much as I do. ^_^
Welcome, TeaBud.

TEA SCIENCE IN 30 SECONDS 🍵
Does dark tea have caffeine?

Yes, naturally.
Dark tea contains caffeine, just like all real tea leaves. That includes Liu Bao tea, because it is a real tea made from the tea plant Camellia sinensis.

How does it feel in a cup?
• The first steep may feel a little stronger.
• The second and third steeps often feel smoother and gentler.
• A quick rinse removes only a little, not much.

Caffeine in tea is released gradually across multiple steeps, which is one reason tea can feel different from coffee.

Tea vs. coffee:
Tea often feels softer and steadier.
Coffee often feels stronger and faster.

Many people enjoy dark tea, including Liu Bao, after dinner. But if you are sensitive to caffeine, earlier in the day may be better.

A big behind-the-scenes milestone: my tea pouches have officially started printing!
My vendor even took a short video for me from the production floor, and seeing that process made everything feel so much more real🤩.
Little by little, this vision is becoming something I can truly hold in my hands.🥹
