Run of the Mill Smash

After speaking with the community coordinator of Gateway Collaborative Media and purchasing a membership, we are officially in the planning stages of hosting a second monthly event in their studio sometime earlier in October. I'll keep you all posted when there's more concrete dates and times, but right now I'm just happy that we finally got this ball rolling.

Renzi's will be hosting their final event in North Adams on the 19th, which also happens to be the final event of our half-year season, because they will be opening their second location in Adams with a dedicated event space. So, we will likely relocate there.

Let's close out Run Of The Mill: Season One with a bang, and welcome in the next with some new opportunities.

Our next tournament in September will be the last one for this season, and the last chance to secure your spot in the local player rankings! We will be changing our event scheduling from the last Saturday in September to the 19th, to allow space for both Renzi's new opening in Adams, as well as Prodigy's Smash event already scheduled for the 26th.

Smub, the winner of our last Run of the Mill tournament and top-ranked Ridley player in the world, was competing at Supernova this weekend! I watched this set of his against MuteAce, and unfortunately am not able to find any footage of his 3-0 victory against Omega.

After this set, he dropped to losers and faced off against Wrath, a top-ranked Sonic player, ending his run at 25th— a great performance considering his seed for 39th.

I'm excited to follow his Smash career more closely from now on!

Things are really heating up in the local Smash scene! Pixel Vault maxed out their last tournament's registration limit in July, and we weren't too far behind. There are only 24 spots available total, so be sure to register in advance if you plan to compete!

This month, we are increasing the event fee from $5 to $10. By doing so, we will be able to expand our prize pool payouts from just the 1st place finalist to the top 3 finalists. As always, all of the proceeds go directly to the prize pool or to the cost of venue rental. Run of the Mill does not keep a single penny from these events, and so I hope that this change is received well.
