hi hello I love ya.

Started my farm job this week and boy do I miss digging in the dirt. It's been five years since I've done this kind of labor and my back is screaming at me, but my brain is happy.

More than anything, I'm really happy to not rely on my art practice to make a living for the next few months. I'm going to take some me time and do more things I love without the pressure of having to sell it 🙂

Being a PNW socks and sandals guy, I've always loved the mountains 🏔️ it's fun for me to see them finding their way back into my work.

10 years ago, I started doodling as a way of journaling and to relieve stress from my 80 hour work-week marketing job. This pot reminds me a lot of those first doodles. Now I work 100000 hours a week get paid in good vibes 🥹

I don't keep pieces for myself, but this one is my favorite from the last load, so I will be gifting it to my friend who developed the clear glaze recipe I still use today. This porcelain bod by is my new favorite - it drinks up color and works with my clear so well, catching light in all the right ways 🔆

I want to develop better form that works with my wiggly critters, but I just love love love a clean straight and simple cylinder. As always, I freehand the critters, so sometimes they turn out a little wonky or toooo silly. These guys struck a good balance for me.

This is my favorite color work from the latest kiln load. I made mylar stencils to spray subtle patterns onto the backdrop, which are a bit hard to see, but encourages me to be braver with it on the next run!

Whale bud is for my old farm friend. She and I used to pretend that chickens were screaming for buckwheat when clucking. Bok-bok-bok....buck-WHEAT 🐔🌾

When I was at , I also discovered work by and was inspired to do a set of wee carved color inlay cups and bowls. I'm actually a sucker for just black lines on white clay. This was a reclaim that had some speckly bits in it, so the lines aren't as crisp as I'd prefer, but I sure do love carving when I have the time for it.

Anyone have favorite sgraffito or line tools?? I'm aiming to make more of these and heard a tungsten carbide scriber is the way to go.

7 months ago I received a scholarship to attend a Thrown and Altered workshop at lead by instructor extraordinare,

It's the first workshop I've ever taken and I learned so much!! I'm still working out the kinks of applying altered and hand trimming techniques to my pieces. Thank you, Ray for your generosity in sharing your knowledge. I'm excited to see where it continues to take me.

This bird babe was painted in memory of Kiwi hunting under red light in Tawharanui in New Zealand. Will be at the ! 🥝🦆🐤

Some people ask me what a certain critter is supposed to be. The answer is anything it wants to be 🌈

"We're boxed in and labeled before we're ever able to speak who we believe we are or who we dream we'll become." -

I've been leaning toward more abstracted critter faces. I always found interest in cloud-watching and finding critter shapes in places, so the suggestion of a critter or more subtle critter forms are always on my mind.

Also been into the gourd shapes lately. Maybe I'm just excited for growing season 🌱🙂

The past few months, I've been playing around with screenprinting underglaze. I designed five different critter patterns with and , used iron-on vinyl to create screens, and tried my hand at creating my own transfers. I'm going for a gritty textural feel to add more depth, so the prints aren't meant to be hyper crisp, but I'm still finding the balance that works for me. Stoked about this first batch of experiments!

MAXIMUM CRITTERS MAXIMUM FUN.
