Perched on a granite monolith that shrugged off a wildfire in 2011 and split a landslide in two in 2013, the Chapel on the Rock in Allenspark is pure Colorado magic.

Stand in the meadow below on a summer afternoon, and you realize this place isn't just standing—it’s glowing. The stone seems to hold onto a century of Front Range sunshine.

When we brought this 1936 landmark into the studio, we wanted to capture that exact feeling. Through our Digital Luminism process, we blended John Singer Sargent’s sharp architectural lines (mapping every single stone) with Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s warm, golden light.

The result isn't just a picture of a building—it's a celebration of a place that has watched over the Tahosa Valley for generations.

Sometimes, you have to look backward to figure out exactly why you are moving forward.

This summer, I fed an old, faded photograph of myself into our studio easel. The photo was taken in the summer of 1979. I was fresh off a Eurail train, bicycling through Europe, and spending every spare hour standing in front of the world's greatest Impressionist masterpieces. Here, I’m standing in a provisional gallery in Munich, Germany, looking at Vincent van Gogh’s Vase with Twelve Sunflowers.

I was confident, relaxed, and completely inspired by how artists like Van Gogh, Sargent, and Renoir could capture light and emotion with such brilliant economy. I didn't know it then, but those museum halls planted a seed that would take decades to bloom.

Using our Digital Luminism process, I restored the background, sharpened the fading details, and translated the memory into a classic watercolor in the style of John Singer Sargent.

When the final render finished, I stared at the screen. The noise of the original 1970s snapshot was gone. The blur was erased. What remained was a distillation of exactly who I was in that moment—a young man discovering the power of art to freeze time.

This is why I founded Curated Canvas Studio. This is why we push so hard to restore old family photos, fading memories, and beloved local landmarks. We don’t just "upscale" pixels. We clear away the modern noise so you can see the timeless, emotional core of the moments that define you.

Artistic lineage isn't about copying the past—it's about carrying the light forward.

Years ago, our Art Director captured a photograph of Claude Monet’s Garden at Giverny hanging in the Musée d'Orsay. The painting's core magic wasn't just the flowers; it was the atmospheric immersion—the way the strokes allowed color to breathe as a feeling rather than a strict fact.

When spring hit the Pearl Street Mall this year, the vibrant beds of red tulips offered a perfect local parallel. We wanted to see if we could bridge that European museum texture with Boulder’s architectural reality.

Using our proprietary Digital Luminism process, we took the "Source Truth" of an April morning on Pearl Street, preserved the exact geometry of the brick pathways and storefronts, and dissolved the scene into the loose watercolor washes and feathered light of a classic Renoir composition.
