A reminder that tomorrow is Catechetical Sunday. This year’s theme “I received from the Lord also what I handed on to you,” is from St. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. The theme focuses on the primary substance of catechesis. It is intended to inspire all those who hear the Word to share it as witnesses of the true and living God.

Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all parishioners to rededicate themselves to serve in this ministry as a community of faith.

"Celebrating St. Kateri Tekakwitha" -- the first Catholic Native American to be canonized -- won BEST PHOTOGRAPH -- Color Category in the Catholic Press Association's media awards. Appearing in the October 2019 issue of Columbia, the judges' comment about the photograph was, "Really vivid colors. Connection to Catholic life clear. Impressive that the subject was so sharp and the background was blurred behind her. Nice photo that was full of technical skill and emotion." St. Kateri's feast day is celebrated by the Catholic Church on Tuesday next week! St. Kateri Tekakwitha, pray for us!

Christ, the Light of the World.

The Easter Vigil liturgy is the most beautiful liturgy in the Roman Catholic Church.

Although celebrated this evening virtually, it is the dramatic Easter vigil liturgy that marks the beginning of Easter. As we are awaiting our master's return with our virtual lamps full and burning, so that he will find us awake and seat us at his table (cf. Luke 12:35ff).

May the light of Christ, rising in glory,
dispel the darkness of our hearts and minds.

Please share this virtual light of Christ.

The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”
And the angel said to her in reply,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.

Following the example of Pope Francis, the supreme chaplain urges us to pray a Novena for Protection in Time of Pandemic during this difficult moment for our country and our world.

At important moments in the past, the Knights of Columbus has urged its members to pray. We did this at the outset of World War II, after 9/11, and during papal conclaves and civic elections. Today, the world faces a pandemic illness for the first time in a century. Having lost our founder, the Venerable Servant of God Father Michael McGivney, to a viral pandemic 130 years ago, we know such situations can be very serious.

We also know that prayer is an important expression of our trust in God and our relationship with him.
