When and I (Cheri' Calico Roman) created Black Poly Pride, it started off as just a crazy idea.

It was supposed to be a pool party that quickly became much more.

Into a conference, into a reunion, into a tear fest, into a life-changing moment but most profoundly, it turned into a community.

None of that would have been possible without our loves, friends, partners, and people.

Sherri Holmes was one of our people during a revolutionary time in my life.

I'm asking our community to be her “people”; her loves’ people and her family's people now.

Sherri was the “What do you need?” straight-forward- no-chaser person when she couldn't be there donating to our efforts, and she showed up when she could, attending our annual Onesie fundraiser just a day after her diagnosis.

Her dedication had no bounds, and she believed in this. She believed in me.
