SOFTWARE WE USE | Toon Boom Harmony 🎬

Different stories call for different tools.

For The Doctor Is In, our team used Toon Boom Harmony to bring characters, performances, and stories to life through 2D animation.

Harmony is a powerful 2D animation platform that supports character rigging, traditional and paperless animation, compositing, and more—giving animators the flexibility to create expressive movement and performances efficiently.

For a series focused on making health education engaging and accessible for young audiences, having the right tools to bring characters to life is an important part of the production process.

The software is the tool. The artists are what make it move. 💫

Entre2Mundos is an original anime and manga series created to explore stories inspired by Indigenous civilizations, Latin American folklore, and the many cultures that make up the Latino diaspora.

The story lives in the space “between two worlds”—where different cultures, languages, histories, and identities collide.

It’s a world built from mythology, imagination, and a desire to tell stories that haven’t always had a place on screen.

And this is only the beginning.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | Angélica Agélviz Rodríguez 🇵🇷🎨

We’re celebrating Puerto Rican talent in animation with Angélica Agélviz Rodríguez!

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Angélica is a creative director, story artist, and 2D animator with a passion for storytelling and Caribbean stories. Her work has spanned commercial projects, television, film, and animation, with experience working with studios and brands including Nickelodeon, Disney TVA, Netflix, MTV, and Cartoon Network.

Her career is a powerful example of how Puerto Rican voices and perspectives can make their mark across the global animation industry. Angélica has also brought her creative talents to projects with Ad Astra Media, and we’re proud to highlight the work she continues to create. 🇵🇷✨

Ad Astra Media brings a new series, MOVEMENT IN THE INDUSTRY.
First up, "AI-Assisted Efficiency, Not Just Generation"

AI is changing animation—but not necessarily by replacing the people behind it.
Instead, AI-assisted tools are becoming part of studio pipelines, helping creators automate some of the more time-consuming production tasks, from in-betweening and character rigging to mesh cleanup and rapid lip-syncing.

Tools like Cascadeur are using physics-based AI to help animators create smoother transitions while reducing repetitive work—freeing artists to spend more time on what matters most: performance, storytelling, and creative decisions.
The takeaway? The conversation around AI in animation is shifting from “Can AI create?” to “How can creators use AI to work smarter?”
That’s the movement.

SKETCH TO SCREEN | Canticos 🐥🎬
What happens when beloved 2D characters take a step into a whole new dimension?
For Canticos, we had the opportunity to work on bringing the iconic Chickies from 2D into 3D.
Transforming an established 2D character into a 3D world means more than simply adding depth. Every detail—from shape and proportions to movement and personality—has to translate while still feeling like the character audiences already know and love.
It’s a creative challenge we love: taking something familiar and exploring what it could become.

SOFTWARE WE USE | Blender 🎨🐥

Every production has its own visual language—and the software behind it plays a big role in bringing that vision to life.

For 3D Canticos Chickies, we used Blender as part of our production pipeline to bring the beloved 2D Chickies into a 3D world.

Blender is a powerful 3D creation platform that supports modeling, rigging, animation, rendering, and more—all within one creative environment.

For this project, it helped us take familiar 2D characters and explore how they could move, interact, and come to life in three dimensions.

The right software doesn't create the story. It gives artists the tools to bring the story to life.

And every project has different needs. That's why we use a variety of tools across our productions.
